Three weeks ago I got what looked like red bumps or bug bites, then they got bigger and now the older ones have gotten a white flaky crust on them (YUCK). They are on hands, feets, legs and elbow. I already have an autoimmune disease, so I'm more likely to have another one...ugh.

Gene does. He's had psoriasis for years, but the arthritis just got bad the last couple of years. He's on Methotrexate and Remicaid and they seem to be helping.

My husband suffers from both and was on Methotrexate for a long time. During his last 6 months on it, it was making him sick to his stomach and was becoming unreliable...only working about 75% of the time. After almost a year on a waiting list....Enbrel entered our lives. He takes two injections a week. He is a new man! This stuff is truly a God send for him. I would encourage anyone suffering from psoriatic arthritis to discuss Embrel with their rheumatologist.

I described it to my dr and he agreed it sounds like psoriasis. Making an appt today.
Thank you!

I have dealt with psoriasis since I was a kid, and my doctor has no idea why. Mostly it has been a cosmetic nuisance, but a big one. I think my dr. has kinda blown it off, since I am otherwise healthy, and young. But there is usually something behind it, right? Worst part is that psoriasis is so hard to treat. I have never had it completely disappear. But for me, when I am in a place with higher humidity, it tends to dissipate a bit.

Yes, I have psoriasis on my knees and elbows.

I never knew I had it or ever had an outbreak until 1995 - I had strep throat, and I was treated with Erythromycin (sp?). Turns out I was allergic, and I broke out in hives due to the allergy. The hives soon turned into a psoriasis outbreak, and I was covered from head to toe. I missed almost three weeks of work while I underwent UV light therapy to clear it up.

I didn't have another outbreak until after DS was born, and I cut my knees while shaving. I've been able to control the spread, but I can't seem to get rid of the spots themselves.

Psorasis is a PAIN to get rid of! My type is called "guttate", which is spots all over the body. I am almost in remission from it by UV light treatments. I also use a high potency cream compound called Desoxy/Hydroxy that really helps, since most creams don't work on me.

MY ds has psoriasis since he was in middle school. We used all the persciption meds until the Dr. suggested pine tar soap, It really smells bad but works great. Now that he is an adult and he starts to see psoriasis, he will start using the tanning bed and pine tar soap and that really clears it up. Thank goodness he doesn't have psoriatic arthritis.

That's what I was diagnosed with after I broke out from the anti-biotics. The bottoms of my feet were cracking and bleeding so badly that I couldn't wear shoes - I had to put medication on them at bedtime and sleep with plastic bags on my feet just to clear them up enough to wear shoes. Guttate psoriasis is terribly hard to get rid of completely, and then any small cut or nick on the skin can bring it back to that spot.

Could you tell me where you find coal tar soap. My DH is having such problems right now with this psoriasis. The treatments he's been using just aren't working and he's not very comfortable.

I've had psoriasis since my early 20's. I gave up on treating it ages ago. It seemed I was just making the dermatologist richer. It's mainly on the elbows, knees, and lower legs. It can cause arthritis also? And come to think of it, there have been times I've nicked myself shaving and gotten a new spot. But that hasn't happened in a while.
