I would like to start working on my packing list for our June 22nd trip to DLR, so that as soon as school gets out (yeah...only 7 1/2 more days!!!) I can start picking up some of the things I don't have yet. Any good things you always take on your trip or to the parks that I can put on my list? This is only our second trip to DLR, but we've been to WDW many times. I am excited b/c this will be our first trip with TWO potty trained kids, so no diapers and baby stuff needed!

I like the Mousesavers list. I make one copy of that and then make an edited copy for each child. :thumbsup2 I :lovestruc a good list!

I used the mouse savers and then just moved it all over to an Excel spreadsheet so I could edit it. Works great and you can add and remove as you need :)

Here's a few things we never go without on our trip to Disneyland.

1.) Wrap a fair amount of duct tape around a pen or pencil, and if you need some super good tape, you have it, in a very small pack.

2.) Bring extra outlets - such as a small plug in power bar so you can recharge electronics, etc. Many hotels have limited plug ins.

3.) Bring along a magicjack and spare small phone with your netbook or laptop - then you can phone anywhere in North American using your laptop and phone.

4.) Bring along an extra long Ethernet cable - though places like Howard Johnson's can maybe loan you one, it's handy to have your own extra long cable for their wired internet.

5.) BRING A SANDWICH BAGGIE!!!! (To place the remote control in. This is one of the dirtiest items you can hold. That, and the phone.) Which brings me to my next item....

6.) Bring some sanitizing spray or wipes, to wipe down hotel door knobs, phones, light switches, toilet flush levers, etc, fridge and microwave handles, etc. I always think it helps if the family that stayed ahead of us had colds, flus, etc.

7.) Rubber wedge doorstop - If staying in a connecting room where you want to wedge the kids room door open, etc. (One could use a heavy weight such as luggage though.

8.) Nightlight if you want to - we usually keep the bathroom light on with door open a crack but many hotels have the auto fans so can be noisy to do that.

9.) EAR PLANES if you are flying - help SO much for adults and children to relieve painful pressure in ear from flying.

10.) Hotel info., including all email correspondence printed up, hotel points cards.

11.) An extra bag such as foldable fabric bag in case you pack too much and can't bring all your Disneyland goodies, (tigger tails, fudge, souvenirs) home. :lmao:

12.) ANTI-BLISTER balm for feet! Avon makes one, there is a sports company that makes another.

13.) COOLING foot lotion or spray - this helps IMMENSELY after a long day's walk at DL Resort and back to hotel. (ADVIL helps too!! Taken during the day.)

14.) Gravol, or other anti-nauseant if you are prone to motion sickness on rides.

15.) COUPONS for various local restaurants that you can sign up for a couple weeks before trip. (Denny's, Mimi's.)

16.) Small flashlight in purse or carryon, etc.

17.) Small fanny pack (I know, they look ridiculous) or something else to carry daily supplies in.

18.) Large ziploc bags to store dirty laundry, keep souvenirs together, etc.

19.) Water wings - if your child needs them or can use them.

20.) Yes, dollar store ponchos are great for the splash-y rides. :woohoo:

21.) Small little unique gifts for housekeeping staff, etc. What kind of Canadian Treats do you guys think would be appreciated? I have heard Aero chocolate bars are a treat. They don't make those in the USA do they?

22.) Tweezors (For slivers if you get one.)

23.) HAND SANITIZER!!!!! :dance3: We do this after every ride. Seems silly, but makes us feel better. We also make sure to sanitize our seat area on plane before takeoff.

24.)Photocopy your passport and leave it with someone who is not traveling with you.

25.) Light windbreaker type of jacket.

26.) Small headphones (ear buds) for plane ride if there is a TV onboard.

27.) Phone your credit card companies before you leave for your trip, so that they won't un-neccessarily block your card should a sudden charge show up in a location that they know you don't live in.

28.) Antibacterial ointment such as polysporin, for small cuts, etc.

29.) SPARE SHOES!!! You can alternate day to day, or morning to afternoon. MAKE SURE you have shoes that you have already broken in very well!!

30.) Lollipops or ring pops for on plane for small children - it is said that the sucking motion is better than a chewing gum motion to alleviate ear pain.

:flower3:

I've got some great disney packing tips reading this. I'm bringing something no one's mentioned...a timer. Great to put in the bathroom so you're out the door in time for gate opening! Also when I was looking at HOJO's mattercam today I thought to bring some binoculars so we can enjoy our view even more!

I have a packing list that I've been using for about 30 years and update it as necessary. Here are a few things I never leave home without:
washcloths -- I don't feel comfortable using the hotel washcloths so I buy the cheapest ones I can find and use one each day and throw it away.
safety pins
band-aids
Desitin (for chafing)
extra pair of eyeglasses -- I would be in bad shape if I broke my glasses!
copy of hotel confirmation
proof of car insurance
health insurance card
cell phone charger
camera charger
water shoes for the wet rides
extra pair of shoes
If you are traveling with small children who have no ID, you should carry a copy of their birth certificates with you.
Be sure to put some kind of ID on your stroller. I also put one on my tote bag.
Small children should have some kind of ID on them with their name and your cell phone number in case they get lost.
Have you ever bought yourself a really nice hat in DL and then left it somewhere? Write your phone number inside the hat as soon as you buy it and hopefully if it is lost, the finder will call you!

Oh my goodness...how do you fit all this stuff in your suitcase??;)

Do you really sanitize after each and every ride? Good for you! I usually do every few rides and then when we stop and eat. Have you tried the mini sanitizing spray? Lysol makes a mini one and Target has their store brand mini spray with the travel items. I love this stuff and carry it everywhere! When entering our hotel room (after spraying the door handle first of course) I literally "hose" down the room and open the windows to air it all out. I immediately pull off the bed comforters and put under the bed or out of the way someplace. After working in hotels for several years, I know that these are NOT regularly cleaned, no matter how fancy the hotel. Do you realize how many shoes and naked people have sat on these?:scared: I also bring slippers for all family members and do not allow them to walk barefoot on the floors. The floors are usually cleaned once per year- if that.

I have a great suggestion regarding hotel info, confirmation#'s, etc. I have a Disney binder that has a section for schedules (park schedules, our vacation schedule etc), hotel info, airline, car, map, menus, misc etc that I made. I keep everything together in this binder and it comes on vaction with us. I do this for each vacation we take- so I have one to our yearly beach trip, Disneyland and then my "dream" binder for WDW. I printed out the schedules for DL and DCA, have my entertainment card in here, my printed confirmation from HoJo's, menus-you get the idea. It makes things much easier and then while I'm on vacation I can relax and know that I have everything I need in my binder.

Can I also suggest that you clear out your camera's memory cards after first burning them or copying them. This frees up your memory space too! I always burn mine to CD and then put the CD's in our fire/water proof safe. I also have all other important documents in our safe. Birth certs, marriage license, pictures, jewelry, credit cards I'm not taking, etc. That way if my house burns down while I'm on vacation, I know that my most treasured and important items are safe. Morbid...I know, but I like that feeling of comfort in knowing I've prepared. Helps me truely relax more while on vacation.;)

And my other tips are to try the Teva Mush flip flops. These were a suggestion from another Dis'er several years ago. Can I tell you...these are the MOST amazing flip flops. I can walk all day in them and my feet do not hurt at all by the end of the day.:thumbsup2 Sierra Trading Post is where I always by them, great prices and I've been super happy with their customer service!

The other great thing I've found is the Baggalini Messenger Bag. I got mine off ebay, but here's a link. You can fit a ton of stuff in these, they are much cuter then a fanny pack, come in lots of colors and are machine washable!

Good luck with the packing, I'm doing mine today!!:yay:

The best packing tip I've learned over the last decade+ of Disneyland trips, is to pack each kid's daily outfit in a gallon sized Ziploc bag. I put the outfit, socks, underwear, and a label on the outside saying who's outfit it is, and what day it is for (ie: "Emily wears this on Thursday").

This little tip takes extra time while packing, but saves our family of 6 so much time when getting ready in the mornings (we're always rushing to get to the gates early). This way, any older kids who can read can get their own clothes for the day, and younger kids' clothes can be easily found. Also, put hair ties or clips into each day's bag as well. Cuts our morning prep time in half.

Great lists! Wipes and sanitizing wipes are always on my list along with any medications that the kids may end up needing......Tylenol, small travel size first aid kit, etc......While many of the gift shops carry these items my kids are super picky and only like a certain brand/flavor.

The kids and I started really packing today. DH will pack the night before. Only 20 days!!! :cool1:

I do this too! Only I don't put which day for DH and myself, only for DS. Plus it really gives you extra room in the suitcase, you'd be surprised!:thumbsup2

One other good tip if you are flying...to put some of each person's clothing in each suitcase. For my family of 3 we usually take 2 large suitcases. When flying I make sure that all 3 of us, have at least 2 outfits per suitcase. That way if the airline loses one suitcase, we all still have something to wear.;)

Let's just hope that both suitcases are never lost!

Yeah, I only do this for the kids, too. But it really has been such a timesaver. Otherwise, I'd spend ENTIRELY too much time trying to decide what clothes to put on the kids! Also, this method keeps me from packing too many clothes.
