Just wondered if anyone uses magic jack phone services? We only have cell phones right now, but are looking into getting another phoneline b/c ds5 will be starting school. What do you like/dislike about it? It is 39.95 for a year of local and long distance. Sounds like a good deal. So tell me all about it!!

Thanks!
Lori

We've had Magic Jack for about 4 or 5 months now. We love it. Did the price go up? It was $20 a year.

No complaints.

It is 39.95 for the first year. Then you can renew for 19.95. Right now we have 2 cell phones, but were thinking about getting this as a landline. I know we won't use it much b/c everyone calls our cell phone. I just want to have something for my son to call his friends on and stuff.

Only thing we are worried about is getting a local number. It does have our area code, but it is a big area code. We don't want to get a number that is long distance....

We have had magicjack for a couple of years now. We mainly use cells but now that DD is 10.5 she talks on the phone more to her friends. She uses the magicjack and we havent had many problems with it. I think its a great idea.

Is it unlimited? It sure sounds like a good deal if so.....why wouldn't everybody use this? Off to google it

We just hooked up Majicjack and are currenly testing it out before we cancel vonage. Its working well so far. We bought it at Walmart for $39.99. The best part is most of my family is in NJ so we signed up for a phone # in thier area so it won't be long distance for them to call me in PA. I talk more to them on the phone than anyone else in our area so I figured why not.

Yes, it is unlimited. People compare it to Vonage. Some people don't like the phone going through the computer and say they get too much static. Like I said, we have used cell phones for the past 5 years. I only want a landline so my son can give out a number to friends---I don't want a bunch of 5 year olds calling my cell phone. I also don't want to spend 30 a month on a phone that we will hardly ever use. So I thought this would be great!

I just started to use this. I am having no problems with it so far. I think I will be canceling my landline and using this from now on.

Hmmm...I had read some pretty negative reviews online about this thing. I'm glad to hear that some people like it. I have Vonage now and I've been considering going 100% cell, but maybe I should consider magic Jack. Has anyone heard of oooma? I read about that on Amazon and it sounds pretty good, too.
