I've been out of school the last 2 days with vomiting-no other symptoms, other than dizziness from not being able to keep food down. Now I'm wondering if I may have ulcers . I know that stress isn't thought by doctors to be a contributing factor, but I've had a considerable amount of stress at school lately :(. Anyone have any experience with ulcers?

I don't have experience with ulcers but with lots of stomach issues.

I think you can have vomiting with ulcers but I think that is pretty "late stage." I think you might have had months of pain prior to this. I would say that 2 days of vomiting would not be "typical" for ulcers. You may just have some type of stomach illness. You could always call a doctor but I know how they are and, unless you are vomiting up blood, they are going to tell you it is probably a virus and to see how you feel on Monday.

Now if you are still doing this on Monday, it would certainly require further investigation.

I had one many, many years ago - when I was married to my first husband - and landed in the hospital for a week.. Although I felt sick to my stomach all the time and had a lot of pain, vomiting was not one of the symptoms I experienced.. However, the fact that this terrible, raw burning in my stomach was relieved briefly (for about a half hour if I drank some milk or ate something bland) was a big tip off to my doctor.. Also, if I took anything containing aspirin it made me deathly ill..

Yours sounds more like some kind of stomach bug - unless you have a prior history of ulcers..

Hope you feel better soon! :)

I'm really hoping it's just a stomach bug. For the last month or so I've had no appetite to speak of, a lot of stomach pains and bloating, but didn't think much of it until the vomiting episodes. If it keeps up much longer I'll be Nicole Ritchie size soon!

Many years ago, I had similar symptoms (stomach pains, feelings of fullness, loss of appetite). Mine never progressed to vomiting (though I did get queasiness). Mine was determined to be acid reflux even though I had no burning or heartburn. Prilosec fixed it in a few days and I've been on it ever since. After you get past the vomiting episode that you are in, it would probably be a good idea to make an appt. with a gastroenterologist to have your stomach evaluated.

It could be stress.
It could be nothing.
It could be an ulcer.
It could be acid reflux.
Worst of all-these are some of the symptoms of ovarian cancer (not the vomiting). Anything like that which lasts logner than 2-3 weeks should be checked out.

It could be your gallbladder. A trip to the doctor is probably a good idea. :goodvibes :goodvibes

DS has stomach ulceration and is struggling with it right now. No vomiting, ever. But he has been dealing with stomach pain for years. Prilosec offers relief because it stops the stomach acid, which aggravates the ulcer.

I think you have to suffer a little longer :guilty: to call it an ulcer, but any vomiting that continues should be checked for sure.
