Planning an April trip. My wife and two girls (14/16),
who are picky eaters BTW, have reserved LeCellier and
I have San Angel down also.

I was going to go to the Italian restaurant in Epcot, but
after reading the menu, it looks a little TOO authentic for
my girls sorry to say.

I know that they would like steaks..

Any comments on San Angel out there???

Thanks in advance.

We eat here every trip. I do not think the food is the best we have ever eaten, but we really like it. My kids love the atmosphere, we always eat first then do the little boat ride. They have good margaritas :goodvibes

For picky eaters, I would avoid their dinner menu. The atmosphere is wonderful but the food is lacking. We made ADR's for dinner in Oct and really looked forward to eating there. But we were really disappointed. DH's steak was so tough he could barely chew it. Usually DH will eat anything so when he said he didn't like it, I knew we wouldn't be eating dinner there again. DD9 did not like her selection and usually dessert will always be the highlight for DD, but she wouldn't even eat her ice cream. I tasted it and it had a terrible bitter taste. The lunch menu is different and I want to try having lunch there before boycotting them altogether. There is a lot to be said for atmosphere ;)

I do only eat there for lunch, so I can vouch for it. I think lunch is pretty tasty. I never thought the dinner menu looked very good either. We usually get this combo, and split it. I did get dessert last time, & I love dessert but it was not really wonderful.

Great atmosphere, very relaxing, Dark and cool. Food quality is about the same as a chain mexican resturant. If your kids like Mexican it's a safe, enjoyable meal.

We have eaten at San Angel at each of our trips to Disney! It has become tradition! Our family does enjoy Mexican, so we never have a hard time finding something that we all like. On our last trip, we inluded San Angel with our CP and enjoyed the filet! Very different for a steak, but really tasty! The one drawback I did find was the dessert menu, if I remember correctly only flan, rice pudding, or ice cream. Normally I don't have room for dessert, but since it was included in the package, I decided to go for it, but was disappointed at the small selection. Overall though, I say the atmosphere is great, and I've never been disappointed in the food! :sunny:

great atmosphere - not great food. My Mom's shrimp dish was yummy but the rest of the food just ok. My steak was inedible - very very tough and dry.My DS had a hard time finding something to eat as he is now considered an adult at Disney restaurants. DD 13 did not fare much better. They are used to authentic Mexican as we have a mom and pop resteraurant in our town that we all love. Maybe lunch would have been a better choice for us. The strawberry margarita was wonderful :cloud9: and the atmosphere can not be beat!

I'm going to have to disagree. It's nothing like any mexican food restaurant here. We do not care for San Angel at all and I think it's because it's just too different from what we're use to eating.

and I have had worse! I still can't believe they just use chips out of a bag! But when you add in the sevice (usually very good) and the atmosphere, it more than makes up for the average food.

Have fun!

Unless they like TRUE Mexican food, I would not recommend. I personally LOVEEEEEEEE this resturant because of their fish and rice dish. My kids wouldn't eat a thing here so I have to plan my trips to here on trips that i don't have them with me.

Honestly? It is a huge disappointment. Poor food and undoubtedly the worst service to be had on property.

We love San Angel Inn..we usually go there for lunch and then have a light dinner. San Angel Inn, to this day is a favorite of our daughter who has been going there since her teens. Now when she comes for a visit..you can guess what her restaurant of choice is..lol.

What are your reviews/ideas for just appetizers and drinks?

We had lunch at San Angel in early December. We had heard negative reports on both the chips and the food. We were pleasantly surprised. The chips were fine, the salsa was great! We shared a combo plate and with the chips, it was plenty of food for the both of us. The atmosphere was very cool! Would not hesitate to eat there again.

We usually have this queso fundito(??probably spelled wrong) appetizer. It is good, very cheesy. I always get a strawberry margarita too, my DH get on the rocks. I would definitely try this place if you have not, it is just a neat place to eat.
