Anyone have children with epilepsy

Couldn't the Doc just decrease the meds in October after you get back? I don't know much about epilepsy but wouldn't think one month more on the meds would make that much difference. :confused3

That is certainly going to be an option that we'll explore. In fact, I want him to say that she's ready to start decreasing the meds, so one more month won't hurt. That would make me feel a lot better.

Also keep in mind that you are the one in the driver's seat here. The doctor is your advisor. You can decide that you don't feel comfortable with changing anything until you get back. Just tell the doctor that upfront and mutually decide on a date you will start the decrease after you get back; the most they would probably do is change the date of the return visit for her checkup.

My DD was recently having more seizures and were given instructions and a schedule for increasing her medications. We ended up increasing much slower than the schedule because she was not having as many seizures and she was falling asleep in school. I am an RN (and she is, after all, my DD), so I felt comfortable doing that without discussing it with the doctor. I would suggest other people doing things like that call the doctor and let him/her know.
