Has anyone else had bad service at Whispering Canyon Cafe lately??? We had a lot of fun (games and such), WONDERFUL food (Hubby thought it was the best of the whole trip!) but absolutley horrible service! I think it was our server...she seemed to be very disorganized and had several waiters, the manager and even the kitchen staff coming out to help her...she did not seem to be new...maybe just having a bad day??? We have never eaten there before but (like I said) we really enjoyed our food and all of the fun...wondering if it is worth another try??? Anyone???

We'll be having lunch at WCC in a couple of weeks.:woohoo: I hope lunch is as fun as dinner.pixiedust: It's great to hear that the food was good. This will be our first time eating there too.:wave2:

We just had dinner there last Tuesday night.
We were a party of 8 and had great service!
The food was wonderful, as usual!

We had dinner there in December. Our server was excellent. Not only was he quick and efficient, he was a lot of fun! We noticed other servers around us who also seemed to be doing a great job. It was probably our 2nd favorite meal of the trip (right behind Le Cellier).

We did not have a bad experience, even though I was dissapointed.

I wanted to surprise my son, but from the first we were seated through the arches, in the back by the large fireplace where older couples and young couples were seated.

I immediately felt seperated from the action. The waitress came by and threw a bunch of straws and napkins on the table and asked us for drinks. Here we go I thought, but she took our drink order and dissappeard.

By the time she got back, we gave our orders, and were once again left alone. Nothing happening at our location.

We traded greetings with our table neighbors for a while. Soon we were served. My son asked for Ketchup, as I knew he eventually would, and several minutes later the waitress came back with a plate full of ketchup and tossed it onto the table. The look I got from my son was not even funny, it was more like, why did she do that dad? Drinks were refilled on time but nothing unusual.

In the end it was a pretty plain experience with rather bad manners on the servers part. We were on the dining plan and I just decided to not leave an extra tip.

In my mind the experience at WCC was wasted, even though we loved the hotel, gift shop, the boat ride over and back.

I won't do it again however, because we had many more experiences we would like to repeat during our precious time at WDW.

We ate there in October and our experience was just ok. We were there at lunch, the table next to us asked for ketchup and they had the same waitress as us and she let it be known that "they no longer do all the ketchup bottles at lunch because almost everyone has french fries at lunch and they wer doing it lal the time so they stopped at lunch". She disappeared for very long periods of time and seemed to be in the back . My husband had the bottomless milkshake that was bottomless most of the meal. She also threw straws and napkins on our table and I was like here we go our 3 girls are going to love this but that was about the extent of it. Our food was just so, so . I had the skillet but I couldn't find our waitress to fill it up. My husband said his burger was good. Our oldest had sometype of lunchmeat sandwich which she siad was not good and it didn't loook too appetizing. Our midde girl had a salad, some type of chicken and she said that was good.We even sat and waited and waited and waited for our check and the restaurant was not crowded. We were not on the dining plan that time.

Personally I'm in the give it a second try category--you never know! For us we tried it twice, had lousy service twice and I'm not going back anytime soon--taht doesn't mean never, but with so many great choices available I'd rather try something new.

We had lousy, no actually very bad service in August. Server disappeared for long periods of time barely spoke and we never did get a refill on our skillet and we had 3 adults eating it ( asked 3 times) I never got any ribs, I let my DD have them saying I'll have some when the refill comes, well it never did. My DS had the milkshake, again asked for a refill repeatedly finally came as we were walking out. Were there for 1 1/2 hrs and still didn't get desert in desperation asked for them to go. Food was only fair, skillet meat dry and very well done. And on top of this absolutely no antics! If 3 people in the rest. hadn't had birthdays nothing would have happened, Very disappointing dinner and evening my family left wishing we would have had CS and stayed in MK. WE won't be back.

We make sure that we always eat at least one meal there each trip and have yet to have bad service. We've had quiet (less animated) servers and then we've had some really fun ones. I'd give it another shot.

I am beginning to wonder if the lady server we had was the same person that waited on the rest of you who had bad service...my husband ordered a beer when we first sat down and asked for tea with his meal...needless to say, we hardly seen our waitress...she NEVER brought the refills we asked for REPEATEDLY, and then did not even bring my husband his tea with dinner...he had drank all of his beer prior to his main course and was dying of thirst...when I finally said...."excuse me, but my husband has not had his tea as he requested with dinner." She replied "Oh, I am sorry, but we have dumped it all out for this evening!" She never even asked him if he wanted anything else!! I think we only saw our waitress maybe 3 times the entire 2 hours that we were there...we finally asked the manager for our desserts and requested they be placed into to-go boxes and bagged so we could take the baby back to the room...at this point it was 10:30pm...we sat down at 8:30pm!! No refills on my skillet either . Thanks to those who reported repeated great service, I think we will try it again because we did enjoy the food very much...however, I think I will request the non-oopsy daisy section! :rotfl:

Just curious if in situations like this, where the server disappears, has anyone ever gotten up out of the seat and tracked them (or someone who will help) down?

Fortunately, I'm not very needy, but when I need a refill, if it's over 5-minutes, I'm standing up and start walking around to find our server or someone that will help. I've also refilled my own drink before at a sit down restaurant. I honestly don't mind, I much prefer that than waiting and waiting.

When the bill is late, I'll leave the table and stand by the door. They get the hint real fast. I've never stiffed a restaurant yet. Although on the DDP, I'll probably stiff myself out of dessert :headache:

I know when I'm at Disney, I'll have plans after dinner. I'll give them a reasonable amout of time, but after that, I'll be up and about hunting for a server.

That was just it! When the waitress finally did appear she told me it was a problem in the kitchen....funny that the kitchen staff was coming out to check on us (along with the manager) when they seen how upset I was getting having a fussy 2 year old in this situation (I was standing up looking for her around the dining room). And the other tables around me (not waited on by this waitress) seemed to be taken care of in a much more efficient manner. I really wish that you had control over the tip on the DDP in these type of situations.

We ate there last Thanksgiving and the service was horrible. When they finally brought more Turkey not even a new skillet just had one large plate and plopped turkey at our table and the rest at the table next to us. Then 10 to 15 minutes later brought potatoes and stuffing very unappealing. Sat right in the middle with 1 7yo and was not involved with anything going on. Ate here in the past never had a problem in fact parents have a vacation club at the lodge and they will not eat their again as to such a bad experience with us last thanksgiving.

I eat there a few times a year and I can tell you if you ask for Jefro you will never have bad service EVER . He Rocks he is the best of the best , he was even in the Disney Mag .

If you are lucky enough to get him make sure you tell him the crazy lady from Dallas says hi and then ask him WHEN it is he shoujld never bend he will fall otu laughing at you . Then ask where I am at .

Ate there twice last year. First time everything was great. The second time was horrible. We actually got 50% off our bill. Service was slooooow, food and refills were non-existant.

Twice with no problems. Going back in June.

Glad to hear this...with all the positive reports, I think we WILL try it again...the food was FABULOUS!! My husband really enjoyed his pork chops...and everything on my skillet was cooked just right (this coming from someone who does not like meat the least bit dry).

Same thing. Food was fantastic, service was slow (expecially the wait for the check, but I found that universal in Disney. By the end of the week, I almost asked for the check when we ordered. I was by myself with three young children, so waiting for the check became a nightmare.), also the experience was a little bit of a let down. The server didn't ham it up at all. He was very nice, but seemed distracted.

We were at the restaurant for more than 2 hours (waiting to be seated, eating, waiting for check). During this time they didn't do the stick horse race at all. I explained when we checked in that my children were looking forward to it and asked if it was likely to happen when we were there, but was told rather rudely that it might happen "sometime this afternoon." If it wasn't going to happen that was fine, I just wanted to prep my children so we didn't have a meltdown on the way out.

I finally waited until the waiting area was empty, and asked if my children could ride the horses for a few minutes there. They said "sure" and seemed surprised that my children really wanted to ride them.

The whole experience seemed a little off. I'll go again because the food was so good, but I just hope we hit a better day. BTW, the waiting room (according to my DD6) is awesome. There is a set of Lincoln Logs for the kids. They went back to play again after we ate and I was waiting for the check.
