Anyone have any suggestions on fun APPS for IPAD mini?

Hi all. My 9 y/o dtr was given an iPad Mini for her birthday. And can't seem to find any APPS worth buying. The one she got (a dinosaur egg game). Wanted her to pay $2 or she would have to stay up all night to watch her fino egg or it would die. I thought this was supposed to save some money rather than buying DS games at $30 a pop. But this seems even worse. Now she wants to buy dogworld Dalmatian(??sry can't remember name. Anyone familiar with this one or have any suggestions for fun games that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance for any suggestions

My son has an older iPhone that he plays games on and occasionally plays on husbands ipad. We go with free games or $.99 games. Only advice is to make sure the settings for in app purchases are OFF Ir she can buy things while playing

My sons favorites are candy crush, temple run, fruit mania.

We chose to give him the phone so we wouldn't have to keep up with the $30 ds games all the time.

Monopoly, Scrabble and Boggle weren't too expensive. Do you have iPhones? If you link the iPad to your existing iTunes account, you don't have to repurchase apps you already have but simply download them to the new device.

Phase 10 is a fun game and doesn't require wifi to play.

My kids like Temple Run and Fruit Ninja.

We have the free versions of Temple Run, Angry Birds (Star Wars), Doodle Jump, and Mouse Trivia (Disney!!!), and a few more I can't think of right now.

We like My Singing Monsters. Yes, there it is easier to spend $$$ to buy money/food/etc., it isn't necessary. Nobody dies if you don't (that is sad). We make sure all of our devices are password protected so charges can't be made. This makes it a lot easier. Every day both boys (8 and 3) are asking to check their monsters.

Bad Piggies (angry bird spin off) is also a great one. Cut the rope, where's the water...honestly we just look to see what the top rated apps (free or cost) and go from there.

Nemo's Reef - I have an android tablet and I love this game. It needs Wi-Fi to work.

A lot of these app games require you to purchase extras or it takes forever to get what you need. Nemo's Reef isn't like that. I haven't spent anything on it and if you play daily you get the pearls you need for things. When you get rare fish you can feed them algae and they will give you pearls.

I just wish I had a better tablet as the HP Slate 7 I have keeps loosing the Wi-Fi so the game freezes.

There are tons and tons of apps out there. Many are free. You can google "best free ipad apps" for lists. You can do the same to find all kinds of games like "best ipad games" or "best kid ipad games". Your daughter likes pets so maybe "best kid pet games ipad", that kind of thing. A lot of games have free versions and pay versions, free versions generally have in app advertizing.

There are a number of games that have in app purchases such as the dragon egg game you have. I personally avoid them, it just causes issues with kids. Whenyou read the descriptions it will list all in app purchases if there are any. I also have parental controls so nothing can be bought in games at all. And nothing can be bought without my password.

I have a 7 yr old who begs for all kinds of apps if they look good in pictures. We use it as a learning tool for him. We discuss ratings, and actually read them. We discuss actual cost of the app. We also look to see if it has in app purchases.

One of my personal favorite apps if called AppsGoneFree. Every day it lists free apps. Some are junk, some are always free, but sometimes i find some real gems.
