Anyone have any luck getting AP rate last minute due to cancellations?

Hi Guys-
Our trip is Dec. 1-7 and I have our first two nights booked at WL at the AP rate. Of course there is nothing available there for the last 4 nights, not even a rack rate. Tehy're sold out. So I have patiently waited, and waited, and waited some more checking back periodically to see if anything would open up. I was all ready to cancel our first two nights the other day and take the room at POR that my Mom has booked for us. (We are doing 2 rooms because my parents and little bro are coming too). Anyway, the nice CM told me to hang in there and check a week or so before our trip because things open up all the time. I am afraid we'll get our hopes up and still get nothing if we keep trying.
My question after this big long run-on explanation is........has anyone had any luck doing this? Getting an AP rate last minute at the resort you REALLY want to stay at?

I was able to get an AP rate at akl a week before my trip last summer. I also got a discount at the bwi a few weeks before my last trip, but it was just a room discount.

Always! Please don't give up and keep calling, calling, calling! Don't wait until a week before, either. Call a few times a week!

this just happened to us!!! We are going to the WL 10/29-11/8. We have had a courtyard room booked for several months. When the ap rates came out some dates were available so we took them but were also paying rack rate for some nights. I kept calling and was able to get one or two nights at the ap added and as of yesterday (10/16) we were able to get the rest of our nights for the ap rate. Yeah!! Keep trying. Good Luck!

We just booked PO Riverside for Nov. 6 and 7 with an AP rate.

We are at BWV until the 6th and supposed to move to Vero Beach on the 6th but they aren't reopening until the 8th.

We asked for a couple of others including AKL but they weren't available. CM said there was a good chance something would open up by then.

I just called tonight (we are leaving on Wednesday). I have POFQ at the AP rate, but am greedy!!!! I am trying last minute for WL but no luck... however to my surprise they did have the Poly garden view available....

Anyway, I had to try awhile to get the POFQ rate, so just keep trying! I got lucky on a Monday, so maybe try tomorrow?
