My daughter is doing the CP program and we were wondering if we could lease a car for 6 months or if this was not economical? Thanks for any advice.

I don't have any advice about leasing but when my daughter did the CP she did quite well without a car.

She was there for over a year. At first she wasn't sure how it was going to work but as she got used to it she loved not having to worry about having a car in FL.

The bus service from the apts. is great and it's free.

I'm hoping she won't need a car - with gas prices so high - I figure her and her roomates may be better off car pooling and sharing the cost of gas. Where did your daughter work while down there? Mine is at WL and I guess it's not the best bus route.

She worked at Epcot and MK. She just had to plan a little extra time to get to work and home. The bus service worked very well for her.

A lot of times there are departing students that are selling their cars too.

I would think it would be more economical to purchase a cheap used car (around $2000) then sell it when she leaves. She could probably sell it for almost the same price she bought it. When cars have depreciated that much, they are not going to go much lower in 6 months.

The problem with leasing a car for something like the CP program is that most lease opportunities have age restrictions. In addition, it tends to be difficult to get insurance on a short-term lease.

At Hertz (International airport) the cost would be from 4,000 to 4,000 dollars for six months. That's a lot of money.
