I know it is a bit early but I am the designated planner. We are going to all four parks and haven't decided on if we are going to drive to Downtown Disney on check out day or take the free transportation and pick up our van later and drive home the 2 hours. Thanks!

You should always allow 45-60 minutes to get from point A to point B using WDW transportation. That counts time walking from your room to the bus stop, waiting for the bus, and walking from the theme park bus stop to the entrance (and vice versa). Your time spent on the bus will be considerably less than that.

Ok, I am sorry but I am just confused.

Here is what I found from searching.
MK- 15 minutes
Epcot- 10 minutes
MGM- 10 minutes
AK- <5 minutes

I just got back rom the AKL after 2 weeks there and I'd say thats about right. The bus service was brilliant, most we ever waited was 20 mins and that was going back to the lodge from Downtown Disney. Usually we waited less than 10 mins when getting a bus in the mornings.

Hi,

That is time ON THE BUS.

You'll note I said 45-60 minutes as TOTAL TRAVEL TIME (for example, from the time you leave your room to the time you enter the Magic Kingdom).

The travel times you found are exactly what we experienced in February. As BoB P stated, those are the times from bus stop to bus stop. Genrally we were very lucky and only a couple of times had to wait for more than 5 minutes for a bus, but you really can't count on it.

For DTD the trip was actually a bit longer, I think a bit over 20 minutes, the bus seemed to go a very long way... On the way back we had to wait for about 15 minutes until we got a bus. The general opinion seems to be that DTD bus service is a bit problematic at times. Therefore this would be the only location where in my opinion driving might make sense - unless you want to go there to party (and have a drink).

We generally planned on 40-50 min from hotel room to park entrance for rope drop in the mornings and generally were at the park entrance well before that. But I rather wanted to be the second group through the turnstile (did that at Epcot) than making all the effort just to arrive to lines that already are getting longer.

Yep - agree with Flossbolna

Sometimes the bus will go via Typhoon Lagoon to DTD and others (mostly at night it seems) it'll go via POR (I think that's where it was...). I'd say definitely give it 45 minutes without question. If you could drive straight there it'd probably only take 15 minutes...
