Recently there was a thread talking about summer and pools. It made me think I would really like to have a pool put into our yard someday. I went searching on the net to see if I could find info on pool contractors in our area. All I could come up with was people doing pool maintenance or selling pool supplies.

If you have had a pool put in how did you find your pool contractor? I asked our two neighbors that have pools and both of their houses already had the pool installed so they had no idea.

Check with the permit department. They might know the names of companies that have pulled permits to put in pools.

We bought our pool at Namco. When we purchased, they gave us a list that had at least 10 contractors (approved by our town) who installed pools. It worked out great and it was completed in one day.

Have you look in the phone book?

I know around here..pool contractors are a dime a dozen. BUT...finding someone is easy, finding out if they are any good takes a little bit of work.

Who we ended up going with was listed in the phone book--but didn't have an add. We only found them by referral.

If you are speaking of an above ground pool--typically the stores around here that sell the serious above ground pools (i.e. high quality, not the cheapies)...do the installations themselves.

We got ours from the place we bought our Pool as well. They will have a list of recommendations for installers.

After watching them do it and redoing it a few years later I wish i would have just done it myself.

:cool1: we have a 28 ft. above ground we installed ourself. we love it and have lot's of fun !!!

We got our pool from a store called American Sales.

Try calling somewhere that sells spas and pool supplies. They should hopefully be able to help you.

We installed ours ourself too. It really wasn't that hard. Probably the hardest was getting the ground ready. If the area is reletively flat it's not so bad. We have a 15x25 oval.

We put an inground pool in our yard last year. We got recommendations from our realtor and neighbors.

Be careful when you shop around. You will get bids that aren't apples to apples. We ultimately went for the company that put in the most pools and was deemed most reliable. They weren't cheapest, but they owned their own supply chain. That really made a difference. We weren't stuck waiting for outside suppliers to come through - I had friends whose pools took over a year due to shotcrete shortages. Our pool was done 6 or 7 weeks after the digging began.
