OK, Here goes. I have been coveting the Lumix FZ28 w/15 zoom for more than a year. DH decided to get me a camera for Christmas, but he felt getting a compact style was more important than the zoom feature. My dad passed away on Christams day and needless to say, the holiday was postponed for quite a while as I now has long distance stuff to deal with and my ill mom. So, by the time we got around to exchanging our gifts, the return time to Amazon had long passed. I did not want to hurt DH feelings so I am trying to make the best of this camera, but I am so bummed on the up close zoom capability. You must stay about 5-6 feet from subject to allow for the zoom to work...where as w/the Z28, zoom away no matter how close. The main area of the camera for me is the zoom, everything else is secondary. DH went for 10 MP and compact. Overal it gets great reviews , so I guess I am the odd one out...does anyone have any hints/suggestions? I am hoing I am just missing some really obvious solution. I know to switch from Digital to optical and vice/versa, but still, to zoom in on say, a flower or insect, I want to be as close as possible and get that uber not even sure what you are looking at zoom...and the Z28 does that.
here it is...I have the red one, which is cool, and he did get a decent price of 240 total, incl delivery
