We will be in the market very soon for some new appliances. We saw online a Maytag free standing range that features a double oven. Does anyone own this? How do you like it?

We'll also be looking for a new refrigerator and dishwasher. Can anyone tell me what brands you like or brands to stay away from? For a refrigerator, we're thinking maybe a side by side or freezer on the bottom. No real preferences in a dishwasher.

Thanks for any advice you can give. I no longer get consumer reports and am missing it now!!:p

We got an upside down (freezer in the bottom) a couple of years ago. It took me about a month to get used to the weirdness, but now I love it. As far as I know, Amana is the only company still manufacturing these, and they make them for Kenmore as well. The best thing about it now, is that our 5YO can help himself to drinks, fruit, etc if it is on the bottom shelf, AND he get get himself popsicles, etc from the freezer.

Can't help with the other questions, sorry.

Kenmore has a new three door refrigerator out. I have looked at it in the store and it seems roomy. The refrigerator is airmore style and the freezer is on the bottom.

We put Kitchen Aid in our new home. Side by side refrigerator (HUGE - plenty of room, ice and water in the door, love it!) Dishwasher (stainless interior - much larger than our old one) and we held off on a range, but eventually I am going to get a convection oven with cooktop.

I don't care for consumer reports, I have had some horrible experiences with items they rated at the top year after year. Do your own research (like you are) and make the decision based on what you want, and the experiences you hear from real life people (or cyber people) LOL!

Good luck!

We have the Maytag Gemini and we love it. DH says if we ever sell this house that it does not convey. :p We've had it since it came on the market, and the new ones have a warmer/burner feature that I like. Plus you can get it stainless now. Having two ovens really comes in handy more than I realized, and you can get a small half-size rack that gives you even more space in the lower oven. I can bake two sheets of cookies at a time in the lower oven, and they turn out perfect. In my last oven, I had to move sheets around or I'd end up with half-baked cookies. And you can cook a lot more in the upper oven than you would think.

Maytag has a nice dishwasher that's new on the market. It has three racks for dishes instead of two. The dishwasher is the last appliance to replace in my kitchen, and I'm looking at that one.

We have had a Maytag dishwasher for 6.5 years now and I love it!! No problems at all. One of my neighbors has a Kenmore dishwasher, as old as our Maytag, and the inside is already rusted.

All I can say is to stay away from Frigidaire! Our side-by-side refrigerator is 5.5 years old and it's a piece of junk, which wasn't cheap. You should see the door below the water dispenser, it's badly rusted. The leak is coming from the inside, but it shows up on the exterior; it's really a design flaw. However, Frigidaire felt that it was an aesthetic problem, as it doesn't affect fuctionality. In other words, too bad for us! I have spoken to managers on the phone and have written letters regarding the problem to their CEO, never received a reply. You should see the door...

The fridge has already had two major repairs (which were covered under our extended warranty), we couldn't use it for a few days and we had total food loss both times . The drawers are cracked and they aren't cheap to replace. I'm not even going to bother to replace them, next time the "piece of junk" breaks down, it's out of here for good. Another neighbor that has a Frigidaire side-by- side replaced two of the drawers and they were over $40 a piece. We also have an electric range (glass top). I cut my thumb badly on sharp metal while putting something away in the storage drawer. IMO, these problems stem from design flaws. I will never again buy anything from Frigidaire. Can you tell I hate them?;) ;) ;)
