Anyone have a Lego cake mold?

DS wanted a Lego birthday party when he was around that age. He was really into a certain theme Legos. So I made a plain sheet cake and used the actualy Legos to decorate the cake.
DS had fun helping make the cake decor.

Just a thought.

I saw that mold at the Lego store in San Jose California over Christmas. It is a long shot but maybe you could call and see if they had any. They are always willing to ship items.

I just made one this weekend for my twins! I used 2 1/2 sheet cakes (1 choc, 1 vanilla), froze them so they'd cut easily, cut them into squares/rectangles and then stacked them on top of one another, frosting each a different color. I used rice crispy treats and cut circles out to put on top for the knobs. I don't know how to post a pic. I used whipped frosting, so it wasn't as nice looking as some on the web, but the kids loved it!!

Call around to candy stores, they sell Lego candy. Taste like sweet tarts, kind of. The kids LOVED them, they stack together, too!

sounds easy enough to use a sheet cake and cut out circles to place on top. Then use icing to write lego on top of each circle.

or use mini sqaures for multi colored blocks. There's endless options without having to buy a specific pan for it.

I have one of the Lego silicone pans and I do not recommend it. I tried it a couple of years ago for my son's Birthday and the cakes all got stuck in it. I tested it several times with different methods of greasing it. I ended up just making a regular sheet cake and I let my son decorate it with his Lego's and Lego men.

There is a can of spray stuff sorta like Pam that is a cake release that a friend of mine swears by. It's by the cake mixes I believe. Hope that helps:goodvibes

I would make a sheet cake, cut trenches so it looks like the blocks, frost it, then use cuttie cutters to cut crispie treats, frost them and put them on the cake

i agree with pp....made one for my son in a similar way. made 2 cakes, cut them into rectangles, stakced with frosting and crushed oreos in between (for some extra flavor) then made cupakes, cut off the top part of the cupcakes and arranged them upside down to look like a lego. use a little frosting as glue and then frost away! beware of darker colors, like the blue in the picture--it gets everywhere and then you end up looking like a smurf! yellow is nice!

I was going to come in and say that would be an easy cake to "fake" - but so many people have come in ahead of me with the same plan. The marshmellows in chl2's second link are genius.

(My sister has one of those, but she wouldn't let it out of her sight, having two of the world's biggest lego fans in the world in her house, she uses it a lot.)

Is it the same with all the silicone pans or just this one? Did you try letting it cool then sticking it in the freezer until froze then taking it out? I wonder if that would work?

Legoland has these on clearance at their gift shops - I saw them New Year's Eve I've linked below the web page for ordering things via phone/email from them. Click on 'assorted souveniers' and you can see the cake mold and other fun accessories. (Notice the minifig cake mold, too!)

I have hope now Yay! Thanks I just tried calling before realizing that it is only 5:30 am there so I will wait and call asap

Hey! I have the exact same issue (5 year old bday party etc.) and I was wondering if they had this pan. I am SO excited to have hope but I can't call until Monday. His party is 2 weeks away, so I am crossing my fingers! They still have it on their site, but I wasn't sure if you had any problems. Also, if they did have it, how long did it take to get to you?

THANKS!!!
Erin

How much was the pan? DS wants a lego star wars theme. Mc Donalds will have Star Wars characters this week.
