I just ordered one and I'm so excited to use it! I want to use it on our trip in March and just wondered if anyone else had one (or something similar) that could give me pointers for using it for naps, going on attractions and nursing etc.

Thanks :)

I don't have a Kozy, but the mei tai was great! Figuring out the straps can be frustrating at the beginning. Since you have a fairly short amount of time until the trip, as soon as you get it, practice a few times every day (making sure baby is happy, fed, and rested so there's no extra crabbiness). Have fun!

I love love love my mei tais. From your nursing counter I would guess your little one is close to my guys age (born 4/25/07). I've been wearing him in the mei tai since he was 7 days old. I'd suggest learning a back carry if you can, especially if you'll have some one to spot you, he loves to hang out back there and watch everything going by when I am walking with my 3 year old. He's pretty happy back there when he's not sleepy. For napping, front carries work best for us. He's able to block out more of the world when nuzzling in on me and he falls asleep much faster. He will fall asleep on my back too, but I want him to fall asleep faster I move him to the front. I think the Kozy has a pretty deep body which should mean you won't get a lot of head droop when your little one falls asleep. I am able to nurse in the mei tai by loosening the straps on the bottom and sliding my little guy down to level his head where it needed to be and then retying the bottoms. This does take practice and I was never so good I could walk around and no one would know, like other babywearing experts, but I could sit comfortably and be a little more hands free while nursing which was nice. When wearing the mei tai on the front and not wearing my little guy, I would just fold it down and tie it like a belt. Made it a little easier to use over and over and there was less strap dragging. Hope that helps some.

I had a Kozy for a while and it's really a wonderful carrier. So well made. I actually got it a few days before we left for DL when my ds was 7 mos old. I carried him in it (and our babyhawk) the entire trip. It's really pretty simple to use.

I would also recommend you get comfy with a back carry. It's really comfy and awesome.

As far as riding rides, you can wear your baby in the carrier for all of the rides. You can nurse in the mei tai but it's not necessarily the easiest thing to do. Although, since your baby is older it will actually be easier since you just barely have to point them in the right direction.

My ds napped wonderfully in baby carriers of all kinds! He clonked out and we just rode the rides!

I didn't use that particular brand, but I did use a quality mei tai that I still use for my youngest who is now 2.5 yo.

I love it. It's the most time consuming to assemble and "wear" baby, but it was the most comfortable for my back and for baby.

Yes, definitely practice. :)

I'd say my best tip is if it's hurting, stop and adjust and find comfortable again!

My youngest son is a worn baby, he's 14 months and he likes to be front carried to sleep, back carried to watch the world (he also prefers to be carried by DH in crowds as he's higher up and i guess sees more- DH is a foot taller than me!) I used to be able to nurse in a front carry by lowering him slightly and moving him to the nursing side but now he's way too tall (he's a 98th centile baby) so we stop, untie and take some time to chill out for a while.

I wear DS in either a freehand or a toddlerhawk- he prefers the toddlerhawk for napping as it has the headrest and is longer bodied
