Ok. Since gas prices seem to be climbing with so end in sight, I have re evaluated my desire for a new SUV and am now looking at cars instead. I am leaning towards either a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry.
Any comments? INfo? Gas Mileage, road noise etc?
THanks.

My husband has a Honda Accord EX V6. I like it but it is a bit big for me (I drive a Civic Si). I think it is a very comfortable ride... road noise is less than even my quiet car... and I will say Hondas are very quiet all around. For a while I was between a Honda Accord and a Toyota Camry, but even before I had decided on a smaller car, I was going to go with the Accord. Both are excellent cars. Oh and my DH has no complaints about his gas milage. Over all I love his car and very nice to ride in!

THanks Elaine. I drove a couple today and they are very nice. I am really leaning towards the accord.

No problem!! Both are excellent cars, but I think I liked the interior and the ride of the Accord a slight bit more myself. I have to admit I love how this year's coupe looks too (which is what my DH bought). I think they (both the four door and the coupe) are very sleek looking as well :)

I drove both the accord and the camry today. THe V6 accord was my favorite :) It has great get up and go and the ride was so nice. I love the moon roof too :)
THanks again.

In 1997 I test drove both and got the Accord. My husband bought himself a Camry the following year. Both have been dependable, despite high mileage, but I think the Accord has held together better. Lots of little plastic things in his car have broken, handles, trays, etc. that have not occurred in my car. We have our little Honda vs. Toyota rivalry thing going. Now if only Honda had sponsored Test Track, that sucka would never break down!!

I have a 2003 Accord 26,000 miles.. never been to the dealer for ANY reason. I have 4 Cyl. plenty of power..It is faster than my DB's V6 Camry. I get 26.7MPG overall . It is a fun car to drive. PS .... I have a 5 speed manual.. but still has the most com fortable driver's seat have ever been in. It feels just like BMW I test driven one the same day I test driven the Accord. . the back seat can fit 3 6" foot adults with no problem !! It is car the just feels it is a lot more than $ 18,000 i bought mine for new (tax and lic. extra)

Thanks. I have driven the V6 and loved it.Thought the 4 cyl was much rougher. I don't know why. I am going tomorrow to drive an EX with leather 4 cyl and hope I like it as well as the V6.
Wish me luck with negotiating.

I have had three Hondas and three Toyotas in the last 25 years. Both have been excellent cars and require very little to keep them going forever.

I was also debating between the Accord /Camry last year. Being of somewhat larger girth..I felt more comfortable in the Camry. I also liked that the seats sit a little higher than the Accord. I have the LX with moonroof and really love it. I get 27-30 MPG. I had traded in my Odyssey for it as I seldom needed to drive the boys around anymore and felt odd driving a "family room" around for one person.

I drove the Camry too, but just felt I liked the ride of the Accord better. I would love to drive a Camry in leather too.

RN mom- does yours have leather and is it a 4 cyl?

Maybe I should keep looking...

Thanks all.

No experience with Hondas, but DD has a 95 Camry that she got 3 years ago as her first car. It had 91,000 miles on it. It has been great! Great gas mileage, quiet, comfortable ride. The rest of us prefer driving her car over ours! Many of her friends have been through several cars in that same time period, while she still has her original - no problems, still running strong!

We have a 1991 Honda Accord, V6, is has about 150,000 miles on it and still running! My DS mostly drives this one. I'm actually going out in about a month to get another one. I'm thinking maybe a 2000 Honda Accord. I have a 2001 Acura 3.2 TL with leather seats that we bought brand new but DH won't let me put a bike rack on that one so I'm going car shopping. I just love the accords!!

My ILs have an Accord and they are very satisfied with it. The only comment that they have is that they wish they had purchased the V6.

the 2004 ex 4 cyl with the leather package and love it. I couldn't afford the 6 cyl but the 4 cyl rides fine. I had the 2000 ex coupe but broke down and got my first 4 door!!! I must be getting old LOL. his is my 3rd Honda in a row, I started with the Civic EX Coupe in 1998. Loved them all.
