Anyone have a fabulous green bean or broccoli recipe??

Green Beans With Thyme and Almonds

Prep/Total Time: 25 min.
Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients
•2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
•2 tablespoons butter
•1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/2 teaspoon pepper
•1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Directions
•Place beans in a steamer basket. Place in a large saucepan over 1 in. of water; bring to a boil. Cover and steam for 10-12 minutes or until crisp-tender.
• In a large skillet, melt butter; add the beans, thyme, salt and pepper. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with almonds. Yield: 8 servings.

My family loves this recipe for broccoli

4-5 boxes of frozen chopped broccoli
Velveeta cheese
2 sleeves of Ritz crackers
1 stick of butter.

Boil broccoli then drain really good.
Pour into an oven safe casserole pan.
Slice up velveeta and layer it on top of the broccoli.
Melt butter in microwave and crush up the crackers, mix crackers and butter together and pour on top of velvet.

Back on 350 for 20-25 minutes.

This is the casserole that I make every year too, everyone loves it!!
 
I try really hard to make my green beans like Outback, I LOVE their green beans.

I use fresh green beans, snap or cut off any yucky ends. Wash them.

Steam them until they are almost totally done. I take off 2 or 3 mins, so probably steam them for 10ish mins.

Take them out of the steamer and blanch them in an ice water bath until they are totally cold. Take them out of the blanch, shake off the excess water realllllyyyy well. Sometimes I put a couple paper towels in the basket and give it a good shake.

Next in the deepest frying pan you have, depending on how much beans you have, melt 1/2 stick to 1 stick butter in the pan over med-high heat. Once entirely melted and starting to bubble, add the cold green beans. As soon as the green beans hit the butter, it will coat the green beans, but the butter will re-harden onto the greenbeans coating them evenly.

Saute the beans for 3-4 mins over med-high heat. Salt to taste.

As soon as you turn the heat off, sprinkle a palm full of brown sugar over beans, serve immediately.

I serve these several times a year and they are delicious !
