Anyone have a dyson vacuum? Which one?

I was trying to clean up cuz we're having friends from out of town over tomorrow, and all of a sudden my vacuum just died (grrr.) anyway...now we need to get a new one, and thought of getting one of the dyson brands. Can anyone tell me which model is the best to get? I know they're expensive, but hopefully we won't be buying another vacuum for awhile. Thanks!

We got a refurbished animal last month through amazon and love it. My allergies and the dogs' allergies have improved and DH even grudgingly admits it was the smartest purchase we've made since buying the house.

As far as which is the best to get, imho it's up to the individual. For us we thought the animal was the best because of the attachments and since we have 2 dogs.

do a search on here 'cause there's a pretty long thread on the Dyson's from about a month ago where everyone tells you how much they love theirs.

WE bought the yellow one with the ball - love it! Only had a couple of weeks....didnt' buy the animal since it costs more $ & we don't have any animals....

Maybe I can pull up the link for you - I"l try...

I just bought the Animal model 14 last weekend.
I love it.
Had one surprise though. When I 1st took it out the box and turned it on, it made a horrible screeching noise. There are only 3 steps to getting started so I felt confident it was not anything I had done or not done.
After 2 days of this - it would come and go- I told my DH "we are taking it back". He called the support number and got a very nice lady. Turns out we were using it on our rugs when it was making that noise. Fine on the hard wood. It was sucking up the rub fiber into the beater brush and it was causing it to go out of gear. We removed one of the suction parts and it works fine.
Don't buy the DC07. It is the old Animal and does not have the same suction.

I have a dumb question...with all the suction these vacuums have, does it suck up electricity too? I can imagine causing a big power surge or something.

I have the yellow Dyson Ball, It's amazing and boy does it SUCK. Best Vaccum I've ever had. Love it. And for nearly $700 It better last!

It actually doesn't have a huge electrical draw. I have an old house with extremely outdated electric and haven't had any problems with tripped breakers because of the dyson

I just got my DC14 on Tuesday and it is great. I ordered it from Kohl's with a 30% off coupon and free shipping so I got it for just under $300. :cool1:

How do you get a 30% off coupon?

I just bought a DC07 full kit from the Navy Exchange for $369 (which was strange because the DC07 regular was $10 MORE!).

In any case, I totally LOVE it! I was pretty disgusted at all the junk it pulled out of my carpets!

The dyson site has a thing where you can compare the different models. For my purposes, the one I have is terrific. The "full kit" has a longer warranty and a few extra attachments than the regular one.

I just got the Animal with the ball today. So far so good! :lmao: My vaccuum died last weekend, it was at least 10 years old, maybe 12, no point in fixing it. We have 3 dogs too, so it was the best choice for us I think.

I got it from another thread about Dysons on the budget board. I think it has expired but they come around every couple of months.

I have the animal and really love it! The only reason to get the animal is for the extra attachment that helps vacuuming your car, stairs and small places though, so if you don't need that attachment then there is no reason to pay the extra $$. And, if you change your mind, you can order the attachment later!

Anyway, I have had mine for over a year now, and still love using it! :thumbsup2
