I am looking into getting a droid phone tonight and have heard mixed reviews!! I know Verizon is supposed to be getting an iphone in January but I think the droid does so much more.

So if you have the droid, how do you like it??

Have had it since Oct of last year. I LOVE it! I have gone completely paper free as I have my calendar, contacts, etc. in it. The apps are great - I have a wine app :drinking1 :thumbsup2 ; an app that turns the phone into a flashlight (great for reading menus in dark restaurants); a note pad; a barcode scanner; key-ring app (no more reward cards in my purse) and all of my favorite websites have their own apps (like Starbucks - to see my balance on my card); my bank; etc.

My husband works for Verizon and he just got me the Droid X and I love it!

I just got the Droid 2 and I love it as well! Just got it last week and I am still playing around with it. I like the fact that besides the awesome touch screen and great apps, it has the keypad that slides out as well. It's a great phone and easy to use! Everything is really fast loading!:thumbsup2

This is my situation as well. I am due for an upgrade and would love to have a phone I can access the web with. I am really trying to hold out for the iPhone, but who knows if Verizon will really get it. I am going to wait until January and then if it's not going to be offered, I will get a Droid. I really hate adding on the additional $$ per month for web access though.

Thanks!! I am planning on the Droid 2 as well because of the little keyboard that will slide out!

Thank you everyone for the advice!! I can't wait to get my droid now :thumbsup2

I have one of the original Droids that came out last year and I love it to pieces. I prefer it over an iPhone because it has an actual keyboard, and I've never done well with touch screen keyboards.

Any phone with apps is going to be extremely helpful, but I prefer having a physical keyboard, and that was the tipping point for me.

Have you considered the EVO? I think it's is the best competitor against the Iphone. When my Iphone contract is up, this will be my next phone...and I love my Iphone, which says a lot about the EVO.

I have the orginally Droid and I love it! Its so easy to use and has a decent camera for taking snapshots.

I have a droid through Nextel. It's the nicest Nextel phone, but not as nice as some of the newer droids. That being said, I love it. I have a touch screen keypad though, and sometimes my fingers are too big for it, but ti does so much. I never imagined I could do all that with a phone, but I came from never even having a camera phone or texting before.

I have had the Droid X for a little over a month and love it. I was debating on whether or not to wait for the iPhone, but in the end the droid won out.

The things that I love about the Droid X:
  • Bigger screen size, easier for my stubby fingers to operate.
  • Open platform, third parties can provide apps on their own, and Mr. Jobs gets nothing from it.
  • Verizon has a superior network in our area, everyone I know with the iPhone complains about AT&T's coverage.

Things that are better on the iPhone (most have little value to me):
  • Resolution is better for pictures/videos (but smaller screen)
  • More apps (this is kind of like more channels on cable, do you really need more apps?)
  • Apps are better regulated. Have not heard of a phone virus yet, but I think if the hackers start writing them they will be more prevalent on the Droid.
  • Front facing camera

my daughter had a iphone and insisted she wanted a droid. 4 months later, she wishes she had her iphone back. I have an iphone and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I got the Droid Incredible last month and LOVE IT!. I decided on the Incredible after talking with a friend who got the Droid 2 and said that after a month she was no longer texting with the keyboard. The touch screen is real easy to get used to. I love the App Store, FB and email are very easy to use.

I have the Droid X, had it since release day in Mid July. I LOVE it. It's my favorite phone I've ever had. The swype feature for typing makes the physical keyboard totally unnecessary.

I have an EVO and I love love love it!!! I wouldn't trade it for anything. You should look at them.

I have the original Droid and add me to the 'love it' list. I just downloaded a application to it that now lets me use my keyboard as a swype....so much better than the hunt and peck method :)

Droids are usually a little more work then Iphones. Iphone works right out of the box because you can't customize to your liking. So if your into moding your device then the Droid is awesome. If you don't like the stock messenger you can get a different one. If you don't like the keyboard you can get a different one. Love Android devices and wouldn't even think of jumping ship in the near future. With how many are selling nowadays the apps should most def be coming real soon. Just got Angry Birds and that is a fun game I must admit.

Not to mention a silly Apple vs An awesome Android mascot?

I've got the orginal Droid and love it. More and more apps are coming out now that developers have figured out the Droid is here to stay. While the iPhone still has more apps than the Droid, the Droid is quickly catching up.

I have had my Droid 2 for about 6 weeks now. I, too, really wanted to hold off and wait for the iPhone but I seriously don't think it will be out by January. They have to create an entirely different phone for CDMA vs GSM.

Anyway, admittedly, I HATED this phone when I first got it. I was switching from a Blackberry and I couldn't get anything configured the way I wanted it and one day, the battery completely drained in less than 7 hours!

So, after I couldn't get things working right, I took it back to Verizon. Here, somehow, I had a completely DUD of a phone! They replaced it and NOW I'm in seventh heaven :cloud9: !

I keep wondering if I will kick myself if the iPhone really does come out in January but now, I'm loving my Droid more and more with every app that I download so I'm thinking that by January, I will probably care less!

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks everyone!! I didn't make it to the store tonight but am going in the morning to get the Droid 2 :thumbsup2

I too was going to wait for the iphone, but I am not a huge apple product fan :scared1:
