Anyone have a dash cam?

I just got a new car so I am adding a couple accessories.

One is a dash cam. I just got it wired up and installed. Drove around the neighborhood to generate some footage. Not sure why I wanted it but it was a relatively cheap addition to the car.

So far I have only installed the front camera. The rear camera seems a little daunting to get the wiring from front to back.

Does anyone here have one?

Caught anything interesting on the cam?

YES! And it is so important to have one (both front and rear view). I purchased one from BestBuy and they installed it. I'm not sure why car manufacturers besides Tesla have yet to make them standard.

Just yesterday, some jack*** cut me off and turned from the second righthand lane in front of me. Almost clipped the right side of my car. I had to brake so hard that the ABS was activated. Luckily, I had my dashcam so if I would have hit him it would be enough proof that he was at fault.

I love watching videos from Idiots in Cars on Reddit and there have been several videos that were uploaded from around our town. Those videos alone should encourage people to get dash cams.

I have the rear camera and a website where someone installed it in my same car with detailed instructions. Maybe I will tackle the rear one tomorrow.

The flip side, YOUR dash cam video can be used against YOU. A friend was involved in a road rage incident and the California Highway Patrol refused to even look at his dash cam video, he has a Tesla with multiple cameras. They said if they didn't witness it, it didn't happen. My friend was cut off, but his car was not hit, the other car spun out of control off the road. But the driver then drove off. But the video did make the evening news.

Yes, a Viofo front and rear dash cam for a couple years. I installed it myself and ran the wiring under under the panels to hide it, and that was absolutely not fun with some expletives. I didn't hard wire it into my fuse box. I want to for a parking mode, yet I don't trust messing with the wiring there.

And yes, I caught something really crazy in DC one day. Skateboarders, lots of them, going down the middle of the road, coming from around corners.
