Anyone have a computer hobbit like me?

For about a month now, there's been a computer "hobbit" in my PC. While on the internet, every once in a while, a little box pops up (not your standard pop-up). It's about 4" x 4" and is a mini version of the "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" thing. Only a portion of it comes on the screen though.

And you can't close it or move it. The only way to get rid of it is to log off the computer.

DH tried to explain this to a guy at Circuit City, who just gave him one of these looks

that is how my spy-ware attack started! Do you have a spyware program? have you run it recently? Within a few weeks my whole system was dead and it took a lot to get it back up and working. Call your local computer guru and have them come and thoroughly clean out your computer. And, start backing up all your files!!! (Just in case!)

I HAVE A WHOLE FLIPPIN' HERD OF HOBBIT CRITTERS LIVING IN MY COMPUTER!!

I need to reinstall everything. I accidentally deleted something here, uninstalled something there, it's a mess. I can't find all of the original software right now, but, when I do, I have to tackle reinstalling the mess. Then, I have to back it up so I don't have to do it again. AAAAAHHHHHHHH!

No but I posted a while back that we had goblins living our phone and I'm pretty sure that there are orcs living in my fridge that eat my leftovers when I'm not home.

Hmmmm......I had to clean my refrig out this weekend. Orc's in the fridge.....eating leftovers......yes......yes, I could live with that!!

I just wish that 'Make me search' dot com orc would quit taking over my home page!;( That dratted thing came up on my computer recently and keeps changing my home page in IE to it. I keep changing it back to Yahoo! grrrr...

I have never heard of that happening....how strange! And I don't know enough about computers to help, either. Maybe clear out cookies.......?

By the way, we DID have a spyware program that kept changing our homepage in IE - so annoying!!

I know how many here hate AOL, but I pay extra for McAfee through AOL and that has stopped so much of this nonsense. It's worth the extra $4 a month!
