While Southwest's boarding procedure is often called the "cattle call", it's not like that at all. You get a boarding pass when you check in and it has a number on it. They board in groups "Now boarding numbers 1 through 25" but since it is open seating, you don't have an assigned seat. It basically allows those how arrive first to board first and select their seat. Most airlines now board you in groups but you have an assigned seat - that's really the only difference.

One itty bitty correction. It used to be 1-30 etc. but now they have A, B, and C boarding passes. Get there early and you should have no problems.

One of my favorite words and I am not sure of the spelling, but, it looks good. :) Got it from an old TV series with Fred Savage, cannot remember the name of the series however.
