Anyone have a closet connected to bathroom with no door?

DS is moving into his first apartment next week. He will have an en suite bathroom, with his walk in closet accessed from inside the bathroom. There is no door between the bathroom and the closet. We are concerned about moisture lingering in the closet. I was thinking of getting a pressure rod and curtain panel to hang in the door way to the closet. Not really sure what to get...

Does anyone else have this sort of set up - what have you done to protect the stuff in your closet from moisture?

Thank you!

How about placing a dehumidifier on the closet's floor if there is an inadequate venting system w/i the bathroom?
Never lived with this design concept.

We have a setup like that with doors on the closet, but they are hardly ever closed. No problems with moisture, but the bathroom is big enough that the moisture dissipates pretty quickly, the mirrors don't even steam up from the shower.

We have a closet in our master bathroom. It has a door, but we never close it, and we've never had any issues with moisture. The bathroom is fairly large though and has a good fan system.

My son has this set up in his apartment. His closet does have a door, but it has never been closed. He has had no issues and his closet is about twice the size of his bathroom.

Yes my parents master bath in their bedroom is like this. There is a pocket door for the bathroom and the walk in closet is accessed from inside the bathroom. They have a very large master bath, and its been like that since they did that remodel when I was in middle school, so about 22 years, no moisture issues so far. There's no separator or curtain or anything like that.

My in laws recently remodeled their master suite and did the same thing but their closet has a barn door on it.

No issues here either. Our master bedroom closet is off the master bath. It *had* a door but we rarely closed it and it got in the way, so we took the door off. Have never had issues with moisture.

In our house the master closet is at the front of the house but is right next to the bathroom. We have a door for the closet but never close it; actually I had originally intended on removing the door from the hinges so it didn't impact the clothes behind it but alas I decided against it for now.

We were told during the construction process (our house was built for us) that people don't tend to leave the bathroom fan on for long enough so we do tend to make sure it's on for a while. That would help reduce moisture/mildew aspect. OP does the apartment have a fan built into the bathroom?

Ours is like this. It's kind of a "galley" style bathroom with the closet on the far end. It has a door. It has never been closed. Moisture has never been a problem, but out fan system is fantastic. It has sensors and will kick on when it senses too much moisture in the air (sometimes I will forget to turn it on when I shower and it kicks on automatically). But, we also live in a rather dry climate. Our bathroom also has a window that can be opened, if needed.

The most important thing is to have an effective fan in the bathroom. Without that, you may have issues with dampness creeping into the closet, especially if they don't regularly run an air conditioner.

Thank you everyone for your responses! It sounds like it will be okay. We are going to hold off on getting anything for the doorway to the closet. He does have an exhaust fan in the bathroom, and I ordered some hanging fragrance free Damprid. Thanks again!!
