Long story short, we have TracFone but it charges us double as it's always roaming (it won't read our home address) :confused3 .We just bought a Nextel Boost phone but there is no service (salesman assured us there was and we are returning it  ).My DSIL has a regular Cingular phone (lives next door) and it works. Does the Go Phone have the same coverage area as the rugular ones?

Thanks :goodvibes

I've never tried any other pre-paid plan, but did you know that Tracfone now has a one-rate phone where you don't get charged double for roaming?

I did not know that. I think I'll go check out their website. Thanks!

I'm not finding this on the website.... :confused3 That sounds really interesting to me.

It looks like it's only available with one particular phone at $79.99.Pretty good deal as the Boost phone we bought was $104 and doesn't work.

Verizon pay as you go is what I use now. I had tracfone, an older model, and it was clunky and could be expensive. Now I use the verizon and pay $15 a month for all the minutes I could ever need (got a $50 airtime bonus when I bought the phone, that carries over as long as you keep your airtime up--I buy $30 every 60 days) I am not necessarily frugal with my minutes, I use the phone when I need to, at the parks in WDW to find my DH or parents when we separated.....it's great for me.

I have a Cingular Pay as You Go phone and don't have to pay for roaming. The rates now are 25 cents a minute or $1 each day you use your phone and 10 cents a minute. I bought it at Walmart. I used my old phone at WDW with no problem and no roaming. It was a Cingular Pre-paid phone. I haven't used my new phone at WDW.

How strange! When I bought a new Tracfone about a year ago, it was one of those no roaming phones and I had a whole list of choices in the phones. When I went to look now, they only have 4 or 5 phones for my area and none of them are the no roam! :confused3

All I can figure is that they subcontract service (like through Verizon and AT&T and whatnot) and maybe they went through a different contractor.

On the GO phone pay as you go do you have to buy more time every couple of months?? I have a tracfone but I never use it but I have to keep buying minutes every two months. I have not renewed it since august because I just did not have the extra money to spend with all the school supplies and fees and such. I have over 400 minutes on it and hate to lose all the minutes but if I could find one that you only have to renew when you actually need the minutes I would go with one of those. I only want one so if I am on the road and breakdown I will have a way to call someone.

Do you know if there is a link or something online for this deal that I can see? I want to get dd a cell, and the local verizon office is wanting to charge me $50 per month for the prepaid plan.

I would get verizon but we are the one area code in Ma. that they don't service.Weird but true.

Yes, you have to buy minutes on a due date to keep it active.I think you have to with all of the them. The Boost phone was every 90 days, the longest period I found, but again...it won't work where we live.
