DH bought his dream car a few months back. It is a 2006 Roadster, maroon. He has always wanted one and now that our son is almost grown (do they ever get that way) we can now have a 2 seater. It is so much fun. Anyway, about a month or so ago we took a trip to see his mother about 5 hours away. Car started making this strange noise, a rattling or vibrating noise. It would go away so we just decided to wait til we got back cause it was then time for the first oil change since we bought it. I took it in for him cause the dealership is right by my office. When I turned to get on the highway I thought I saw the oil light blink on but was not sure so didn't mention it. The service manager is a friend and he called and said when they changed the oil they only got out about a half a quart.
I freaked. He said they checked it all out and there was no damage but he wanted to check the level again in 1000 miles. We took it back then and it was a quart low. Then we checked every 500 miles and always about a quart low. I got to checking on the internet and found a reference to a Technical Service Bulletin about this and low and behold it covered our car engine and the recommendation was a new engine. We took it in this morning for the dealership to finally do something. They had said they were just going to pull the engine and see what the problem was but today the service manager said no we were getting a new engine. That makes this car almost a new car. Not bad for a used car price that was still $5000 below market when we got it.
So if anyone has a 350z 2003-2006 that is using oil check with your dealership. You may get a new engine.
