My DF and I are having some serious problems with my parents and the constant stress they have put on her and I since we have announced our engagement and wedding plans. It has gotten to the point where we are not sure if we (especially me) want them to even attend our wedding. I won't go into details but we are at a point where we might not feel comfortable if they come and we are slightly worried about my mother causing a scene.

If they do not attend we might have to rework our reception and move it from the WhiteHall room at the GF to one of the restaurants at the GF. This would be done b/c they would not be contributing to the cost of the wedding and we cannot afford all of it ourselves.

I saw on the WDW Wedding website that receptions can be hosted at a restaurant. I was wondering if anyone here has done this and how was it? Feel free to lbe detailed :goodvibes Also, if they do not attend it would only be a group of approximately 12-14 people.

Thanks for the input.

We had dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse with 11 people. We were seated in the back and it was very nice. Custom menu's with our names on them and we had the table decorated with a Cinderella Carriage with flowers and our chocolate favors. For a large group you need to book an early reservation or a late one in order for them to be able to prepare an area for you.

We got lots of well wishes from guests and staff in the restaurant and the food was delicious.

We had a "reception" at Fultons... it was great everyone enjoyed it.

We had a total of 20 people, but in order for us to have a private dinner we did need to book a room and with that came a minimum expenditure...I got married back in 2004 and I believe at that time we had to spend $1200....

We had a cash bar... but soda, water, tea, coffee was included with the meal. At the time, if we had an open bar that would count towards our minimum.... Even with a cash bar we had to meet I believe a $400 minimum... if we didn't meet it we still had to pay the $400/make up the difference.

That was in 2004 so I am not sure what has changed...

We worked directly with the restaurant to make all the arrangements. We did centerpieces for the tables and the standard linens. There were choices for linens (color themes) for an extra cost, they could also work with you to make any arrangements for special decorations as well. I didn't have to talk to anyone other than the person that I was working with at Fulton's. If I wanted to know what they could do for Cinderella type centerpieces, she would talk with her vendor and let me know what the options were!!!! It was great not having to talk to a million people.... I hate complexity!!! We also got customized menus, I saved one but I have NO IDEA what happened to it.. which makes me upset because I really wanted to keep it as a memoir.... oh well....

My husband and I didn't have an issue with the $1200, we figured heck if we had a regular wedding we would be dishing out a lot more than that!!!!

PS... For the entire we had a split menu... either Chicken (for those non fish eaters) or a Surf & Turf of Alaskan King Crab Legs and a Fillet Mignon (SP?).... It was delish :cloud9: !

We had our dinner at Narcossee's around 5:30 after our intimate wedding reception. Everyone really enjoyed it. The restaurant is rather small but has a beautiful view. After dinner we watched Wishes and Randy did some firework pictures for us there.

We are having our 'reception' aka dinner at the Fireside Room at Victoria & Albert's. That room holds up to 20 people. And is a lot less expensive than one would think.

so did you all have an intimate wedding ceremony then go to these resturants for the reception portion?

We had the wedding at 11:15 followed by pictures and a cake cutting ceremony... this was over by about 12:30....

We got back to our room about 1:00 and relaxed a bit then did dinner at 5:30 at Fulton's.

Are there menus/pricing posted anywhere for the fireside room? I don't know that I've heard of that option before, and it sounds really nice :)

I'm having my 'reception' dinner at Jiko. They have a private room that holds up to 40 with a $4000 minimum or you can split it for a max of 20 with a $2500 minimum. I have menus if you want me to email them.

I looked into the private (fireside??) room at V & A's and it seemed very affordable. We ended up not going with it for reasons other than price (personal preference, etc...)

Good Luck!!

Its $1750 for the first 12 guests & the room fee. Then $125 for each guest after that. The room can hold up to 20 guests. Up to 16 can be seated together at the same table.

The menu is the standard V&A menu for the evening - except oyu have the option of taking the additional cost items off the menu such as the kobe beef, cavier, etc.

Thank you very much for the info! Unfortunately, I think Jiko may be a little out of the way for the other plans I had been thinking about (I'm trying to go for something that is close to Wishes), and so I don't need those menues, but it definitely sounds like fun! :)

Thank you! I will have to look into that... the thought of the fireplace room just sounds so cozy!

Say, when did they give you this pricing info? I called about 2 months ago and was told the price had gone up to $2,000 for 12 people and that there's only one table in there, so all 21 people (they said 21 was the max) would sit at the same table....

It may have gone up. Thats the pricing they gave me when I signed my contract with them - I did this exactly a year in advance (so Feb 2007) though so pricing does have a tendency to change.

No worries, just thowing the option out there. Wishes is my ALL TIME favorite, so I understand. But I'm a purist and I prefer watching from inside the MK, in front of the castle. I'm self diagnosed OCD and anal retentive, lolol.:rotfl:
