Due to family schedules we'll most likely have our wedding in mid August 2012. We were wanting to do an MK photo shoot and a dessert party, but am concerned about the heat and humidity. I haven't been able to figure out a good timeline. The ceremony and reception will both be at indoor locations, but I'm concerned about photos before, in between, after, etc. What have you done in August?

I haven't had my wedding yet (July 31) but as someone from FL I can tell you that August is one of the hottest, most humid months out of the year. It's humid and hot ALL. DAY. LONG. every day in August. That being said I would make sure to get a makeup/hair person that knows what they are doing with humid weather. HTH.

Sorry I may have read your question wrong. The time line we are going by is we are having a brunch wedding starting at 10 am, photos will start with the guys at 8:30, then photos after the ceremony together, and of course getting ready photos. Reception is from 12-4. If you're concerned about rain, it usually rains here anytime between 3 and 6 pm. And it's usually short. But it's usually every day in the summer. For the MK shoots, they are always done very early in the morning; it used to be 5:30 or 6:30ish am shoots but they recently changed it to 7:30 (so I've heard?) due to construction or something.

I am getting married on August 18th outside at Sea Breeze Pointe. I am dredding the weather but it was also the only time family could come down with school and work. I think you will be much better off than my guests at all inside venues! Overall, I think we just need to put it in the back ou our minds and just focus on our special day and hope we don't melt! :)

We were married August 12th of last year. We chose August because we are both teachers and the hotel rates and flights seemed to be more reasonable in August than July. We were scheduled to be married on the beach outside of the wp first thing in the morning. We visited in August 2009 to get a feel for that specific location at that specific time, and it was warm, but not bad at 10:00. In 2010, however, it was especially humid the day before the wedding, so we moved it inside of the wp. We usually visit Florida every August and the weather is generally unpredictable. We are from New England and we find that it is not much hotter in central Florida in August than it is in NE. However, the humidity is fine on some days and umbearable on others. It also rains in heavy (although brief) unpredictable downpours.

Everything about our wedding was great. However, you need to account for the August weather. We did our pictures and our wedding early in the morning. Our reception was at night (at the Living Seas) and we had a breakfast at The Wave in between. This way people would not be forced to be all dressed up walking around in the heat. We also had a beachy wedding (Simple dresses, Tommy Bahama shirts, etc). We had events throughout the week (Group dinner at the Prime Time Cafe followed by Fantasmic dessert party, Breakfast at Ohana after the rehersal, luau the day after the wedding). Since people were casually dressed these days, no one really complained about the heat. It did suddenly start pouring right before the luau, but they have procedures for that.

Basically, one thing we needed to get se in our minds right away is that we needed to be flexible and be resonable, it did mean that we didn't get to do 100% of what we wanted to do, but you do need to consider the confort of your guests. Just keeping these things in mind, you should be fine. We had a fantastic time and people still mention the wedding and how much fun they had.

We were married this past August and while it was hot, as long as you are at mostly indoor locations it is fine. We did most of our BP photos and family photos indoors. DH and I took a bunch of outdoor photos, if we got too hot we went inside for a few minutes, and it was fine. We had chartered buses for our guests, so they didn't even have to walk from the WP to the GF.

Our ceremony was at 5 pm, we did pictures before beginning around 2:30 and then pictures after the ceremony. We had a Wishes DP, and it was still extremely hot that evening. We were lucky and it did not rain all day and the sky was the most gorgeous bright blue, but that also meant it was really humid in the evening. For the DP, I would try to have a lot cold items and definitely some cold drinks. I hadn't really thought it would be that hot and some of the choices were not the best, but our guests still really enjoyed it.

We didn't get married in FL in mid-August, however we did honeymoon in mid-August at Disney the week after our wedding. It was very humid every day and it rained around the same time (~3 pm) for about an hour+ (depending on the day). Usually the earlier in the day, the nicer the weather and the more blue the sky (if that's what you care about). Otherwise, why not schedule the majority of the photos to be taken indoor photos at some of the hotels, like the Grand Floridian? I think what @pezaddict said is good about going indoors when the heat is unbearable and back out after you've cooled off again.

For our wedding, we were lucky that the humidity up here in CT was nil, but I was preparing for the worst and thinking that we were going to have to take most of our photos inside. I do not do well in humidity (I become a hot, red, frizzy mess). Like I said, we really lucked out.

I live in Florida too and agree the August is HOT! Also, it is rainy season so it rains hard almost every day. With that being said, if you will only be outside for short periods of time it should be manageable. Get one of those misting fans to cool yourself and be sure to buy a lightweight dress. Minimize time spent outdoors as much as possible. It pretty much stays hot all day and night in August so there is no escaping the heat. I'd avoid a mdi-day ceremony if at all possible and opt for morning or night (mid-day is really unbearable).

We got married August 17th 2009 at Sea Breeze Point! You will be so focused on what is going on that you won't have time to worry about being hot. And believe it or not, there really is a breeze there which helps :goodvibes
