I'm thinking about it. I would have to book a room at Chesapeake Bay, MD. There is no room in and around DC. I kind of want to be there to witness this history.

My Neighbor's daughteris going. We live in Illinois and thought about going to Grant Park on the 4th

Some of the sophomores here at my college are. I wanted to go regardless of who won (be it either candidate), but I leave for Orlando the day after so I can't.

I've a believer that you see more on TV anyway for large events. They will cover everything where as if you are there in person, you can only be in one place & won't have commentary with lots of extra info.

Someone remind me to turn it on for a couple of minutes when it happens. I'll probably be sorting socks too.

My dad's coming up from Florida.

If you really want to come up, go for the suburbs or exburbs for hotels. I'm about fourty five minutes from DC and he got hotel rooms near me without any problem.

I am certainly going to try..I would rather be there then watching on TV wishing I was part of that moment in history...:thumbsup2

Yes, I live in DC and will attend, if I get tickets or if I can work as a military member (I'm Air Force) with the inauguration commitee. If not I will stay at home and celebrate with my family, who is coming from New York.

I have a call in for tickets to my rep (who knows I volunteered for Obama), but we are going regardless-- my girlfriend lives in Baltimore-- we will take the train in, and will drive down from MA or maybe fly. Can't wait!

That's how I feel. I just want to be there and witness it for myself. Not that watching it on tv would be enough, but just to physically be there would be awesome!

True.. but it just won't be the same if not there, especially this is going to be one of the biggest moment that is going down in history!

I went to expedia and they don't have anything available near DC. I am not familiar elsewhere, so I thought maybe Chesapeake Bay in MD. I am not even sure how long is the drive to DC from CB. If we do go, we are renting a car. Flying is out, too expensive.

Anyone else who may be going?

I'll be TiVoing the whole thing, including the inaugural balls televised on C-SPAN.

we have a hotel just outside DC on the Metro! Hoping someone will get back to us about tickets, other than that not sure we want to deal with crowds. So, we are kind of undecided. We have done it before and it was a long time standing in the cold - and that was when we were young, not with an 11 year old, and I am betting this will be a big one with much larger crowds!:)

so, we'll see.

I live 10 miles from the Capital and I will not go. But I have sour grapes. I'll probably watch it on TV though.

If anybody has the opportunity to go you should. Every inaguration is history. There is nothing better than being there when your guy takes the oath, and sharing it with all the people who helped make it happen.

I went for the last 2 when my guy won. This time I get to watch the kids while my brother and his wife see their guy do it.

We have a place to stay. We keep going back and forth as it's going to be a mob. I hate the Metro in crowds like that. Really want to go, might just watch on TV in the comfort of my home.

No, I'll be 8 months pregnant--I won't be able to hack standing around in big crowds. Too bad, too; my brother just moved to Maryland and I could stay with him.
