I was just wondering if you can post if it went smoothly without having luggage tags and handling it once you got to the airport. I'm paranoid about my luggage being lost/misplaced. Thanks:)

::MickeyMo We leave in 6 days and I have not gotten anything. I'm getting nervous. I think I'm going to get the bags myself and then bring them to the Disney Rep to catch the bus. I don't want to risk not having my luggage for 10 days! ::MinnieMo

We are leaving in 14 days and my sister still doesn't have her's either. I hope they come soon and relieve some of the stress. I'm not sure what to do without them.

We leave Saturday, the phone rep said don't count on tags, do count on finding a blue-jacket rep in Orlando, don't count on handling your own luggage on the bus.

::MickeyMo I wouldn't hold onto my luggage on the bus. I just wanted to retrieve myself from the baggage and then hand it over. I would just need to know that it wasn't being left at the airport. ::MinnieMo

I'm not able to find anyone at the press event that got theirs. My understanding is they just started sending out tags on Tuesday, some via FedEx.

I'll second that, Len...my wife is at the press event and never got her tags.

::MickeyMo I'm sorry, but they never should have advetised this the way they did if they weren't sure it would work fine. It's not fair that those of us who are going at the beginning of the celebration to be the guinea pigs while they work the kinks out. They should have tested this first and made sure it was possible. Or maybe...sent the tags out sooner! ::MinnieMo

Leaving tomorrow and still no tags. Our agent told us to mark our luggage with bright colored ribbons and proceed to the check in with our baggage claim tickets. He assured me that they have been doing it that way for the cruises for many years with little problems.

I called yesterday the cast memeber gave me a magical express # to call directly if I did not recieve my luggage tickets prior to my trip, we don't go till
June :wave2:

Bring pencil and paper. Write down all the letters and codes (not the bar code) of your baggage claim checks while you are in flight.

At least one rumor on these Boards is that you need to hand over your baggage claim checks to the Disney host at Orlando whether or not you received and attached your Magical Express tags.

Magical Express is primarily a checked baggage operation, not a carry-on baggage operation. Even if you claimed your baggage yourself you may be required to "gate check" it at the bus platform or at the Magical Express welcoming area or even instantly at the carousel, and still the baggage might go by truck rather than by bus.

I still think that Magical Express will work approximately as advertised, the Disney hosts at Orlando are capable of making it work approximately so with a little help from you, and only a small number of guests will be forced to go to the baggage carousel sometimes with a Disney host accompanying them.

I've called as well and gotten the information they will use the baggage claim tickets from the airlines. They didn't say anything to me about putting bright colored ribbons. I'm not about to go buy a roll of ribbon for this purpose either.

So you can't take luggage on the shuttle? What if you brought a carry-on small suitcase? some people have large backpacks. I can't imagine them denying you to take any bags... won't these shuttles have the compartment underneath that they usually store bags.

Dh and I just returned from our trip and we are definately getting luggage tags before we return. Trying to pick our suitcases out of the pile as they zoomed by was way too difficult. Get them, they are worth it!

Just got a call from a friend that arrived this morning. He did not have luggage tags but was told to give the attendant his baggage claim checks. He landed in Orlando at 10:15 and headed to the "White Gloved" cast member. He said the airport was mobbed. 3 lines were going for Magical Express check in. He said it went very smoothly and quickly for the amount of people. He counted 20 buses and saw more rolling up. So, landed at 10:15, did his ME stuff, got transported to POP, checked in, and was in his room before noon. Sounds like it is going better than we expected. :cheer2:

21 more days!

Thanks shelleybell, I hope we get lots more positive stories!!

Thanks shellybell for sharing! :teeth: We leave one week from today - no luggage tags yet, and don't expect to see any either. Just happy to be going back to WDW!! :teeth:

That's good to know.

All they told me was to go to Level 1, Side A to find the Disney reps.. Is this easy to find?

Did your friend say how quickly his luggage made it to his room? I figured it won't be a problem getting us to the resort, but I'm wondering how long it will take them to track down our bags (which will not have DME tags) and get them to our room.

I just arranged our ME Transportation yesterday for a trip beginning May 30. I was told to have an index card for each set of luggage with the # of bags and a description of each written on it. Then at the outbound airport ask them to staple the baggage claim to it. When we arrive in Orlando, locate a Disney representative in blue jacket and camel slacks/skirt and give them the index cards. The rep will direct us to the Disney Welcome Center at the airport and Disney will deliver us and our bags safely to WDW.

She made it sound so easy. I hope it is.

I didnt know they were going to be sending luggage tags. If we dont receive the tags. We are going to put our hotel name and address on our luggage tags. We are also going to try to get our luggage and make sure it gets to the right people. I thought of adding a Mickey Mouse sticker to our tags too!
