It is going to be on Nov. 9th & 10th this year. I have never been, but have heard it's a lot of fun.
Has anyone gone before? I would love any tips anyone might have on what to expect.

I saw the information about it in the Universal newsletter the other day. Sounds interesting. I haven't been myself, but I really want to try it this year. Hopefully a fellow brew lover will post and give us the scoop..

Thanks for the information and the pictures. I have some friends that are going over with us, so it should be a blast. I am going to get a hotel for the event on Priceline this week. I hope the weather is nice and cool like this weekend.

Last year a friend of mine went and said it gets a little wild at Citywalk at night because everyone is drinking all day. We can only hope. I will let you guys know if I find out any more information.

Mark,
It's fun...you pay the $20 or so and this gives you a cup (and yeah, you have to be 21). This is the only cost associated with the drinking portion. :) Last year, the cup was about 4 oz. with a line at 2 oz. You go to each brewer and present your cup and they fill it to the 2 oz. line. There are over 100 different beers to taste, and they really vary...that's for sure! Everything from Doc Otis to micro brewery beer could be found last year!

It starts in the afternoon, and I recommend getting there early, by night it gets VERY crowded with long lines and many brewers ran out of beer very early. By that point in the evening, we decided it was easier to just pay for beer, and that seems silly!!! It just wasn't worth waiting in long lines for every 2 oz.!

It was well worth it though, and a good time....I'm sure the clubs were hopping (um, pun IS intended there!) that night, but I have kids so we hung out at the arcade at Nascar and played.

They have all kinds of different food stands set up too (the Citywalk restaurants featured different selections at each one) , my favorite was the Mini cheeseburger in Paradise, I remember it was a great deal at only $2...but the lines are REALLY long for food by nightime as you can imagine!!!

Go and have fun....and get there early! :)
MIB9's and I will be there the 10, I think....

You need to buy a pass for $19.95 I guess to let them know you are 21+. I know you still have to pay for the beer as well and food.

Nope...the $19.95 is FOR the beer...you don't have to pay anything more to take part in the sampling. The food IS extra, however. :)

I'll be there at Universal on 11/10 for my Annual Birthday at Universal.

Wow, what a coincidence....I have my birthday annually too! :jester:

Though, I think I'll start having them every OTHER year from here on out!

We have been the past two years. You buy your pass, put it around your neck with your drivers license in the pouch and head off to start trying beers. Last year, it was so packed you could barely get near the beer. Many vendors ran out. This year they are opening it up to venders from around the nation, not only the southeast...there will be approx. 50 vendors this year. Hopefully they will not oversell the event this year, as they did last year.

We ended up spending time at the room, rather than at the fest because of what happend. Beer vendors were not happy.

The food was great...low prices, good portions.

And yes, we are going to go again this year to give it another chance...because the year before last was awesome. Hopefully this year they stick to the amount of tickets for people they can actually handle!

Here is some information I got about the Beer festival. Enjoy.
