Anyone going on Halloween? I plan to wear a costume

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday so I've decided to celebrate for the entire day. I'll go to the park from open till about noon. Here's the catch: I plan to wear a costume (Willy Wonka -- see below) but I want to know if I can bring the cane that goes with it (not pictured here but I made a special one that goes with the costume). I can get by without it but I'd hate to get to security and have them send me back to my car. Thoughts?

Shouldn’t a cane be allowed as some people need them for assistance? Does it have anything sharp attached?

Definitely nothing sharp attached -- the end is blunt with a flat rubber tip. As to canes being allowed, that makes sense. However, I wonder if DL only allows them for people that actually need them. I can see how they might be concerned that, like a selfie stick, it could be a nuisance to other guests, say, if I had it resting on my shoulder. I'll call Disney to confirm.

I thought Disney policy is no costumes for adults except for at the special paid Halloween parties.
Yes... but I think as long as you aren't being confused with a disney character it might be alright. He looks nothing like a disney character. And people disney bound in dresses all the time.
Plus there is dapper day where everyone is dressed up. his costume looks like a dapper day outfit so I don't know why they would have an issue with it.

All good points.

I’m sad we didn’t get to visit for Halloween time this year. Love your costume! Have fun!!!

You should be fine. As bethwc101 said, there are many who Disneybound or wear Dapper outfits regularly. Even the cane should be allowed because Disney cannot ask if you need the cane as a mobility aid.

Another option with the cane is to use one that clearly looks fake or prop like. I brought in a broom once (part of a costume) -- and, assuming security would take issue with a full size one, used a wooden, kid size broom (which was over 4' tall, but proportioned slimmer). Security had no issue with it.

I don’t think they can ask you if you actually need it and of course even if you did you wouldn’t be able to prove it.

We will be there Halloween! Hope to see you and say hi. I'm a huge Willy Wonka fan so would love to see your costume.

DD and I will be there! Not in costume that early, mid-day well go back to the hotel and change for the party. Great costume, now I will recognize you if I see you in the parks ;)
