Anyone going in Sept/Oct?????

I thought free dining only went until Sept 30th?

You must check IN by the 30th...so you could get the free dining from say September 30th - October 6th... :thumbsup2

We are doing MNSSHP on the 6th!!! We did it last year as well and it was great!!! We stayed at Coronado for one night last year and it was nice but I have no real desire to go back, AKL might be fun though!! See ya there!! :wave2:

just waiting for our closing to finalize so we can book our first "real" stay at DVC as members.
Also trying to figure out if we can add a cruise in there since the price to do the transatlantic would pay for a major add-on.
:o)

CYN42 Welcome to the Dis :wave2:

Tigger2on you don't have addonitis already do you??

Count us in!!

I was on the phone at 6:58 AM on April 4th. Re-dialed until the lines opened. Got to speak to a CM immediately. I was so eager to book....I can't beleive all the money I am saving. DD is turning 10 before our trip and will be considered as an adult on the dining plan.

It's gonna be a long summer, but I have a great vacation at the Pop to look forward to.

We will be at the POP from Sept 29 - Oct 9 with MNSSHP on the 6th!!!

DH was on the phone at 6:57am on the 4th and got in first thing but then called right back because free dining didn't show up on our reservations on Disney.com. He was on hold for over an hour!!!!!! Yes it WILL be a VERY long summer but then when summer is over it is time for DISNEY!!!!! :cool1:

Can anyone tell me how many days you would recommend?
We want to do all four parks.
Are both water parks open in Sept/Oct?
Thanks!

We are doing 10 because 7 just doesn't feel like enough. We only did 3 parks last fall in 7 days and with EMH we still didn't see everything. Depending what time of year you go and whether you can expect long lines or not will determine how much you will get accomplished. We went in October and everything was walk ons during EMH's but during the day there were longer waits so we always left for a swim or some shopping around early afternoon and returned around dinner time. Both water parks are open in Sep/Oct. We have all our days planned out based on EMH (which we LOVE) and I feel like we still might miss something!! I wouldn't go for anything less than 7 but depending on your budget you will have to determine what is enough for you!!!!! The free dining in September will help the budget tremendously though!!! :thumbsup2

So, for a family of 4, for say 10 days, how much can one expect to save with Free Dining?
:)

If you are two adults and two children savings alone stands at $1038.00 inc tax. That is if you would have bought the dining plan. If not add up what you would normally spend on food and tips. I am soooooo happy about this deal.

Since we still have 6 days left on our hopper passes and we had to buy one day tix for the deal, we have 7 days plus MNSSHP and 10 days at the POP for $1100.00 This is one of our cheapest vacations to disney!!!!

Rob (Snowwhite's DH)

I have to agree with 10 days if you don't plan on going back for a while. There is just way too much to see and do.

This trip we are taking in Oct (14 days) we are getting a 10 day pass (plus MNSSHP) just b.c it's not much more $$ then getting a 7 day pass.... I was reminded by dh that I promised to make sure to take some time off so some days we might just do the extra night time hours or morning hours in the parks then take off for a swim. I still haven't learned to do a Disney vacation to relax yet but this time I AM going to take time to stop and smell the roses knowing that I'll be back again!!!

We will be there from Oct 1 to Oct 6 at BWV. No free dining for us... it's all good - we got it last year! Wouldn't be worth it to pay double the money for a Saturday stay to get the free dining...and thinking of it, I don't think we'd get it anyways since we are renting points!

Can't wait...

No, but you can get the dining plan as an "add on" - ~$39/adult. So, the cost of your rented points plus dining plan could well be cheaper than comparable accomodations at the traditional (non DVC) resorts anyway :-)

Is this correct....
Dining for adults is worth $38 a day. So multiply that by 2 adults by 10 days=$980. savings
Dining for kids is worth $11 a day. So multiply that by 2 kids by 10 days= $220 savings.
Add em up=$980 in savings if we get free dining!!!?

And my dd is 11, so would she be considered an adult?

Thanks!

You would have to pay the 37.99 a day for her.....or get it for nothing with FREE DINING!!!!!

Then there is a WHOLE other discussion about paying OOP for kids meals and saving their credits for another more expensive meal but thats "another" story and would leave me wide open for flames so we won't go there...... ;)

Ohhhh, please tell me more. What is OOP??

She is a very light eater, unless it is pancakes or perogies!!

Ok...hypothetically speaking of course....if one wanted to maximize their credits for table service (Disney does not differentiate between adults and childs credits as of yet) one could just pay Out Of Pocket for kids meals at sit down restaurants where kids meals are 4-5 dollars and save their table service credit for another MORE expensive restaurant (say a character meal.) Of course some might say that this is unethical or just plain wrong where others would say that this is smart planning. ( I will not say which one of those I am :confused3 )
So say you were staying for 10 nights and you each have 10 TS credits (this is STILL hypothetical of course) and you book 11 TS ADR's you could simply pay OOP for 4 kids meals (at places like Coral Reef and LeCellier where kids meals are 4-5 dollars) and save those credits for one last meal at say...ummm...let me just pick a restaurant at random (because this is a TOTALLY hypothetical situation)...Chef mickeys for a last night dinner where dinner is much more expensive. This would of course be the SMART way to use them but not necessarily the most ethical use of the Dining Plan.....you decide for yourself.... :rolleyes1

Sounds 'hypothetically' smart to me......

I don't know why people would think this is wrong, because you are still paying for the food you eat. :confused3

Thanks Rob!

I booked our next trip and got the free dining. My father his wife and two boys will be meeting us there. It is their first trip. We got the free dining last year and had a great time. I know this fall will be just as great. Hope to see some of you guys there. I will attach a green Mickey head to my back pac. Say hello!

Marcy

Hey there Marcy Mouse, you will be there sametime as us. Who knows we may run into your family somewhere along the line. Only saw one person at the parks last year with a limegreen mickey hanging from her stroller. I believe she was from Kansas. Take care,

Rob (Snowwhite's DH)

PS. Albertan Mom, the post you replied to is from Snowwhite (aka. Carol) she is the hypothetical genius. I just sit in awe everyday of the woman I married. :)
(insert brownie points here) I always sign my posts and she just posts usually without signing them. That is how you tell us apart on here.
