Anyone Going In May Interested In A Safari Grand Gathering?

We will be there from the 22nd -29th and was wondering if anyone is wanting to do this but dont have enough people to do it.We want to do the safari really bad but there is just 2 of us.So if anyone is interested please let me know and we can try to figure something out.
Might be interested in some of the other ones too.Just let me know.We are game .

BTW it would be me 29 turning 30 while there and DH who is 26.

Be aware they may ask you for your grand gathering #. When we made our ressie's they assigned us a number. We were thinking of doing the safari but sadly we dont arrive until the day you are sch to leave. Sorry

Hopefully, this link will work. It describes some of the Grand Gathering events.

You must have 8 people. You will be assigned a GG #. The earlier you book the events the better.

Grand gatherings are special things you can book for parties of 8 or more (children under 3 do not count towards the group total). Here is a link to the disney website that gives you more info.

OK, I went and read up on this a little bit and it appeared to me(but maybe I'm wrong) that you had to book your entire vacation under a "magical gathering" or something like that. If none of us have booked that way, it didn't sound like we would be able to book a "grand gathering".

Perhaps I'm wrong though.

luvindisneyworld: why don't you go ahead and call and find out if it can even be done and then let us know the details. I need more info before I can say whether we'd be interested or not.

Just booked the wishes cruise through grand gathering. You have to be a group of 8 or more signed up for Magic Gathering. It is not offered to the general public. We had to supply our gathering number to book the cuise. I believe the safari is also for magic gathering groups.

If at least one member of your group is an AP holder, you can book a grand gathering event even if no one is staying on site. You still have to have at least 8 people (and kids under 3 don't count towards your total). If no one is an AP holder, your group must be at least 8 people and at least 80% of your group must be staying on site. If you meet either requirement, they can set you up as a Grand Gathering when you call to book the event.

We booked one event as passholders and it was very easy to do. The office there was very helpful in explaining everything and getting us all set up.

It always amazes me that you can get totaly different information calling the exact same people. When I called, she would not even look for availabilty until I gave her my gatherings number and she pulled up my information. She was a wonderful CM, and very helpful, but the information she gave me and what you got are completly different.

Kathy, are you an AP holder or were you booking a true grand gathering? I started off the call by saying I'm an AP holder and I saw this on the AP part of the web site....and she took over from there and was great at explaining everything. She set us up w/ a gathering # while we were on the phone. I also called the phone # on the AP part of Disney's web site, I wonder if that could be a different #? The CM I was talking to was even great about the fact that I didn't know the names of 2 of the people joining us (in order to make up an 8 person group, we are doing this with another family that I know very casually through another friend but I couldn't remember her husband or her mother's names). She set them up as Mickey A. Mouse and Minnie A. Mouse untill I called back to change them to the correct names!

Just wanted to give the tip that if you are an AP holder...call that # and start off by telling them that you are an AP holder and wanted info.

I called and was told that 80% had to be staying on Disney property.Then they went on to tell me that we would have to have all the names,addresses,ages resort staying at and reservation# to book this.She said that one could call and take care of this and everyone could call back on there own and pay their part.

The Safari is on Sunday and Thursday only and will meet in Asia between 4:00 and 6:15pm.

So if you think you maybe interested Please let me know and we will see if there is anyway we can get this going.

lollipop, I have a magic gatherings number so I was calling through that. Now it makes sense. They are offering it to both AP holders and people with the Magic Gatherings. Thanks for the info.
