We will arrive in Disney the week of Pirates opening in theatres. pirate:

We were thinking that it would be fun to watch it while being there. Has anyone been to the movies there? Are the theatres nicer than normal ones? Does anyone know how much it costs to see a movie?

Any thoughts good or bad are welcome.

We went there twice one year we were there when the parks closed early in the evening. It was the same as a normal theatre the seats were nice and we had a good time. I went to see Shallow Hal and Oceans 11 so it was a few years ago. :happytv:

My DH is a movie nut :happytv: and drug us to see Shrek of all things on our previous trip! It was an AMC 24 theater at Downtown Disney. We have an AMC 24 near our house, so nothing special but a nice clean theater. I wasn't too happy at the time, but seeing Pirates might be a different story!

We were down at WDW last year for star wars weekends and the release of Episode 3 ( Dang geeks ;)) We went to the first midnight showing of the movie down at the AMC theaters in DTD. Next week we plan on going one afternoon to see X-Men. Good movie and we can spend the time in air conditioning :)

We are movie nuts too, just went last weekend to see Xmen, it was great but the seats are always uncomfortable, no leg room (my honey is 6' 3") and we were hoping that at Disney theatres it would be a little more special.

Does anyone know if it costs the same as a regular theatre or more? We are used to paying $8.50 ($6.50 matinee). We may pass on seeing the movie there and give something else that we couldn't do at home a try instead then.

We saw Harry Potter & Prisoner of Azkaban at the opening midnight showing when we were there in June 2004. It was really cool - all the theatres were sold out, they were giving away prizes and we sat in front of a little boy and his mom that were from England :thumbsup2

When the movie Tarzan came out we were in WDW and decided to catch it at Downtown Disney. It was fun to see it with a "Disney" crowd and everyone stood and cheered at the end! We really enjoyed the experience!

We saw that Amanda Bynes movie when we were visiting Orlando (but not Disney) in March. We visited Downtown Disney and saw the movie before Cirque du Soleil. I think adult tickets were $8, but I'm not sure. We found great leg room about 10 rows from the top. There was a landing with a big space between rows.

The coolest thing that I've never seen was you were able to put your own butter on your popcorn at a station outside the concession area. It wasn't too far from our movie, so I even went back halfway down my popcorn to add more butter! :rolleyes1

maybe Johnny himself will be there to promote. wouldn't that be lovely. hold on, I have to go book an airline ticket. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Monsters, Inc. came out in theatres while we were in WDW and we too went to Downtown Disney to see it. The theatre was very nice compared to what we are used to but has what most large city theatres have. However, we found out that it is a good idea to buy tickets ahead with a credit card if it is a popular movie which Pirates is sure to be! pirate:

We are going to be there for the opening of CARS next friday, and we are thinking it might be fun to see it while we are there. :car:

I have been to the AMC once and I am planning on trying ot go back on this trip. The first time was to see Scooby Doo. This time will be to see Cars. I thought the theater was very nice. Really epitomizes the stadium seating aspect.

We've been to the AMC complex there several times. In fact, the first movie we ever saw digitally projected was Toy Story 2; that theater and one in Anaheim were the only 2 in the country with the projection system at the time as I recall, so it was pretty neat to see how well it worked!

I took my kinds my friend's kids and her sister to see Madagascar there. Nice theater.

We were there for opening of Finding Nemo years back. It is so fun to be at Disney and see a Disney Movie! Anyway, we are going to be there next week and plan to see Cars! I can't wait!

Believe it or not, Downtown Disney is the only place I go to the movies! I stopped going here in Brooklyn about 5 years ago (too many interactive idiots in the audience) We go to Disney about 4 times a year and love going to the movies there after we go to Bongos.

It is an AMC theater, so you can probably find the ticket prices and even showtimes online. We saw The Chronicles of Narnia when we were there in December. It is a nice, clean stadium seating theater. The prices were about what we are used to paying in Southeastern PA. If you have Annual Passes, they give a discount but I forget what it is.

We have also done the movie/dinner deal twice at Universal, but that was in 2004 so I don't know if they offer it anymore. You could eat at several restaurants there (on a fixed menu) and then see a movie. It was $14.99 per person which we thought was a good deal. We ate at the Hard Rock and saw Spiderman 2 one night and Dodgeball the other. We also saw Brother Bear on opening day when we were in Disneyland.

I got sick at EPCOT, and had to go back to the hotel to sleep.

Hubby and DD went to Downtown Disney to see "Big Mamma's House 2" and grab some lunch.

I felt bad that I wrecked their day by having to leave EPCOT early (it is DD's favorite park) But they both had fun watching a movie, and it was nice for them to leave me by myself in the hotel room to sleep.

We see a movie every year.....we always take one afternoon off to enjoy a lower time. Movies are great for that and the AMC theatre is wonderful.

We always try to catch a first run movie while there. With all the showing its a great way to enjoy a rainy afternoon or evening. We've seen National Treasure and the 2 and 3 movie of Harry Potter. At home we never go to the movies, but in Disney we enjoy that time out and the pop corn.
