Anyone gluten free thats been to disneyland?

I am not, but my son has a gluten sensitivity, and I also have a friend who is Celiac that traveled with us on one trip. Disneyland is totally great with gluten issues.

Rancho del Zocalo is great. The person helping my friend even went so far as to change his gloves when preparing her meal. She ate there several times during our trip becuause she felt totally safe with there prep. She is so sensitive that even the slightest cross contamination causes her major problems, and she had no issues the whole trip.

The Disney food blog has a great article with lots of suggestions on eating gluten free in Disneyland:

Stop by Disneyland's City Hall for a huge printout of all the gluten free options they have. I specially kept going back to Tomorrowland Terrace, they seemed to take allergies very seriously and they always called the chef out to the window to discuss your dietary requirements, and they specially prepare the food for you. They are very serious about avoiding cross-contamination. But pretty much most places have gluten-free buns and gluten free bread and will make substitutions for you. I was very impressed.

Great info. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

Just returned from a 2 day trip with my friends and one of them has celiac. We ate at:
-Rancho del Zocalo (enchiladas with beans and rice)
-Taste Pilot's Grill (ribs and fries)
-Mediterranean Grill (beef skewers with rice and cucumber salad)
-Flo's (NY Strip loin with roasted corn medley and vegetarian baked beans)

There are lots of options. Flo's has probably the most options at one place for someone who can't have gluten.

My dd and dh are GF. Last time there we did the GF buns in tomorrow land (dd didnt like them though). Storytellers cafe in GCH made GF Mac and cheese and a separate batch of fries after sending out the chef to discuss it with us. That was her favorite meal of the trip. She had tigger tails w/o any trouble, which was nice. She's not celiac, but off gluten for ADHD.

I'd like to find other options for desserts. Ice cream is good, but any GF cupcakes in the park?

DL is a great place for GF. Very accommodating everyplace we went.

I have been to Disney world and I found it Pretty good.

Disneyworld chief mickeys had GF cupcakes, but was was half frozen, and wasn't that nice because if it. I have a photo. It had white icing and tiny Mickey heads for sprinkles. Looked great, but just tasted cold and sticky.

One of my BFF's has Celiac's, she can eat without issue at Rancho Del Zocalo, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ (she skips the cornbread), RiverBelle Terrace had great salads for her, Cafe Orleans (but I can't remember what she ate there), Blue Bayou (the potatoes ARE GF!) in DL, in DCA she ate at Taste Pilot's (ribs & fries), we didn't eat anywhere else in DCA that trip, she wasn't interested in WCT or AG and there was no CCT at the time. :) Just be sure to let your server know you have allergies and they will take care of the rest.

A poster on another board just reported about a great meal shared with a gluten sensitive friend at Carthay Circle Restaurant. The poster asked the Dine Line CM to make note of the gluten free need on the reservation. Within a few hours someone from CCR called to go over the issue. They alerted their server when they were seated. And the meal was great! No problems at all.

To those of you who have had fries at DL - are they cooked in a dedicated fryer or are they cooked in the same oil as chicken, onion rings, etc?

My DD's both have severe celiac and cannot eat fries that are cooked in shared oil and they would be in heaven to be able to have fries again.
