This was inspired by disneydragon's Sleep thread.

I call them my Saturday headaches.

If I sleep too long on my day off I will get these pounding headaches. They are usually on the right side of my head and they just POUND!!

I have to get up at 5:00 for work, so on Saturdays I like to sleep in a little. But if I go past 9 hours, that's when they seem to kick in. This past Sat I slept till 9:30 and had one of those stupid headaches half the day

Anyone else get these, or should I seek medical help?

I DO! (Or I should say, "I did"-- before I had two little kids who wake up at the crack of dawn every morning, even weekends!)

What you described sounds just like what I used to call my
"sleeping-in hangover". I used to just take a couple of ibuprofen, though, and it would be gone. I would also have really weird dreams/nightmares if I slept late. At any rate, it was all worth it because I really needed a few extra hours' sleep to recharge after the workweek.

You might want to consult with your doctor if you're concerned, just in case.

I used to get these headaches from oversleeping too. Alas, with an 18 month old those days are LOOOONG gone!:teeth:

Sometimes I do. Mostly my real splitting headaches are migraines, often during those stupid hormonal shifts.

But the late sleeping headaches are very tough to combat. Once I wake up with one, nothing but time gets rid of it.

Well, those haven't happened to me in a LONNNNGGGG time (pre-kids) however, I know what you mean.

I used to think they were sinus-type headaches. That they were caused by laying down so long that it caused mucous accumulation in the sinuses. That's what they felt like to me anyway. I agree with the ibuprofen.

While I am sorry for you who suffer I am glad to hear someone else gets those headaches. I have them and if I ignore the first little ouch they can turn into a migraine pretty quick.

Yes, I get those headaches above my left eye/temple and no amount of anything will make it go away!
