Anyone from Texas?

Thanks guys! I am now comparing the hospitals that hire new grads and the cities to see where we might end up!

We have decided we never want to see snow again, and there is no way people driving could be any worse than here in Mass and I have lived in NYC the drivers there are mean as well. lol. People around here are not super friendly, we noticed when we visited Georgia how friendly the people were. It was really nice! Glad to here Texans are friendly! There is a word to describe Massachusetts drivers, it rhymes with a swear word.

We love the Frisco/McKinney area north of Dallas. Very friendly people, great schools, everything is really nice and you have everything you could ever need close by. There are several Hospitals in the area - Plano Presby, Baylor etc. (We do get snow RARELY - got some on Christmas Eve and getting some tomorrow but that's rare!)

I am also a fan of The Woodlands as well. My IL's used to live there and it is really nice. Everything you need right there and so pretty.

I used to live in the Galleria area of Houston and that was fun too.

Austin is a super cool place for young people too.

It all just depends on what you are looking for. Good luck with your decision!

Gee, now I feel like it's a competition...

If you work in the Medical Center and live in Sugar Land (two words, y'all ;) ) you can get there quickly via Hwy 90/South Main. I wouldn't take US 59. (This may be premature depending, or it may be helpful.)

I'm going to college in San Antonio. I definitely recommend it. :thumbsup2 The Alamo Heights area is very nice. There's great shopping, the airport's nearby, and the schools are great.

We moved from Ny to the Dallas area and now back to NY. We wish we still lived in Dallas. Dh had to go to Houston alot on business and really didnt like the weather there. We liked to vacation in San Antonio. The Dallas area has alot of lakes you would enjoy. As another poster said I was thinking Baylor, an old friend of mine was a nurse there. They have alot of hospitals around you could choose from. The area is home to the state fair, lots of cultural stuff, sports like the cowboys, texas rangers baseball etc., hmm, guess you could still see the redsox?, concerts at reunion arena. And yes the peole there are really nice and friendly. Boy do I miss living there.

We live at the other end of the state from Dallas, down near Brownsville and the Mexican border. Coincidently, we moved here from Massachusetts. Heat like you wouldn't believe and our summers last forever. Very high % of hispanic, Spanish speakers here. If you want a change from Massachusetts, you can't get amuch bigger change than down here in this part of Texas.

I'm not from Texas, but I think I'm gonna tag along on this thread. :) DFi and I have considered relocating to Texas, too, once I'm out of nursing school - hopefully either the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, or the Austin area. We don't have any kids either, so sounds like we're just about in the same situation. :thumbsup2

We lived 10 years just south of Dallas. I really have to suggest you look at Waxahachie. It is a cute little town south of Dallas. They make lots of movies there because it is such a pretty town. We loved living there. 30 minutes to Dallas if you want to go out or something. There is a small hospital there as well.
