Anyone from OREGON!??

Im going to WDW in the Fall for Merchandise. I am from Eugene OR and am a Graphic Design major and Lane Community College.

NOT TRUE!!!! I am going to be an Attractions CP this fall and am attending Southern Oregon University while at the program. Now both myself and my roommate (who did CP last year) got/are going to get credits through the program. For myself I am a history major and while at the program am going to "dual enroll" in college. Much like you take a class at a community college during the summer I am going to take classes at both SOU and Disney. Southern has been really accomidating and I have had no real snares with organizing classes to take while i'm gone. I am doing my senior project/capstone for 4 credits, have arranged to do a 4 credit independant study class based on the Disney Heritage syllabus and then are trying to either take one of those ACE credited classes or arrange another independant class. My advisor and the enrollement services were really helpful even though i'm one of, like 6 people ever, to have done this program roommate included. I would be really surprised if colleges don't give accrediation or are helpful in trying to figure a situation out. Now most people choose to take a semseter off and that is their choice, but as I am steadily burying myself in student loans, taking a semseter or quarter off is not a plan I can do. I'm poor, so paying loans back isn't quite an option at the moment. What I have been told is to avoid online classes that require daily work. Most CPs say to avoid this because your work schedule will totally tank any plans of doing actual homework in a timely manner and it's just better to not put yourself in that position.
So that was a really lengthly "probably" on if Oregon schools will take credit. It's varied on the schools standards much like any other transfer class.
Hopefully that helps!!

Wow! This is very interesting! My son will probably start at Clackamas Community College...then we'll go from there!:goodvibes I did try to find out info from them by email and never even got a response! It would be really great if he could get some credit for it, but he'll probably still try for it even he can't get credit. I think it would be a really great learning experience regardless!
I think it is so awesome that there are some people on here from Oregon that are involved in this!
So, when you state that you will be "dual" enrolled, does that mean you have to pay for two colleges at the same time? Sorry for the dumb question...but this stuff is all new to me!:confused3

How exciting! What year are you?

I graduated from West Linn High School in 2007 and I'm graduating in 2 weeks with my Bachelor's in Accounting from BYU in Utah.

Congratulations! My son will graduate from WLHS next year.

I hope you both post your experiences on the dis or blogs. I would be interested to see what your both doing at the program and how it is going?

We will actually be going to DL this year instead of WDW.

I am a freshman this year and will be taking all next year off to do the program next year.

Okay, now I have to ask... (you can message me if you dont want to just say it) where did you go to school in Eugene?

I am actually from Eugene and had gone to NEHS. I moved up to Washington though and am still pending for the fall :/ I am going to Clark CC in Vancouver! :)

Not in the truest sense of the word. I am still enrolled at SOU and my quater schedule will look like this:

Capstone 4 credits
- My thesis is on the global effect of Disney throughout history and I have to finish a 10 page research paper that I have already started on before the class.

Independant Study/Elective 4 credits (for the AEC documented class)
- I am probably taking the Marketing You class to build up contacts
and so far everyone at the school tells me that as long as I get the paperwork done before I go the school should view it aas a transfer class (that I didn't have to pay for, basically).

Research Class 4 credits
-I am doing the Disney heritage class as a support to my capstone and can get up to 4 credits or more depending on how strenusous the syllabus.

So technically I am still enrolled at only SOU but am down at Disney.

Hope that helps!!
