What's a good price for a direct flight from Calgary to Orlando? Right now it's at $640/person but I normally watch the united connecting flight out of Edmonton so I'm not sure if that's a good price or if it might drop lower than that. We're looking at travelling in September.

For West jet, that's a decent price.

For myself, that's way too high, especially in September.

I'd look into american airline carries, such as United, American Airlines, Delta, they do charge for baggage, ($25 for the first bag) but the flights can get as low as $380 round trip per person to MCO from YYC.

Going with Westjet can be a huge improvement, but I'd personally save over $200 and pay for a bag!

As for booking Sept flights, the last 3 years I've been I haven't booked our flights until at least June! :thumbsup2

Just booked United, 4 people in July, departing from Calgary, $2019.00 taxes in. I thought that was a great price and enjoy the stopover to grab a bite to eat and stretch legs. We only do carryon as we rent a house with laundry, so baggage costs don't bother me.:cool1:

We flew YYC-MCO in April 2013, one way, direct flight for two adults was $1255 including all taxes, fees, etc.

Probably could have gotten a better deal through a different airline, but loved the idea of a direct flight so we could enjoy more time at the parks! And Westjet was the only direct option available.

We've done YYC - MCO with layovers in Toronto and Hamilton, and have unanimously agreed as a family that it is not worth the cost savings when it turns a 5 hour day into a 12 hour day. From now on, we will only fly direct (provided we book early enough that the additional cost on the direct route is within around 25% of the cost of a layover).

For our last trip, we were up at 3 to shower and finish packing, in order to be at YYC at 4:30 a.m. for a 6(ish) flight to Hamilton, and by the time we cleared customs in MCO it was well after 7 at night (close to 9 by the time we checked in at Animal Kingdom). We were wrecked after such a long day, which negatively impacted our trip the following day as well.

For our next trip, we leave at 10 YYC time and get in at 4:45 MCO time (so less than 5 hours in the air), and will have cleared customs here in YYC. We should be checked in to the Grand Floridian around 6, which leaves us the rest of the evening to go hang out at Downtown Disney (and so I can have the greatest meal in the world - the Holiday Turkey sandwich at EoS).
