Anyone fly out of BWI lately?

We haven't flown in ages and I was wondering if you could give me any pointers. We will be staying overnight at the Courtyard near BWI and will be taking their free shuttle for our 6 AM flight on US Air. The shuttle starts running at 4 AM and I'm thinking if we're on the first one, we'll have plenty of time to check in and get a quick bite to eat before our flight. Does anyone know what is open at BWI at that time of the morning? Thanks for the info.

It depends on which airline you are using. We always fly from BWI. We flew AA last month and had no problem but I noticed SW was backed up. We also had an evening flight, but the kids and I flew to Texas in July Delta and had no problem. We are using Delta for our trip to Orlando and have a late flight. We will arrive 90 to 60 minutes early probably closer to the 60 minutes because we are travelling with children and don't won't to wait to long at the airport. If you take the 1st shuttle you should have more than enough time to check in and go through security.

Thanks for the encouragement. We are flying on USAir and we have our seat assignments, so hopefully it's just a matter of checking our luggage, going through security and getting a bite to eat.

I had a 6:40 a.m. flight out of BWI on Southwest a couple of weeks ago. I arrived at 5:45a.m. (I was on automatic pilot having driven from DC!) and was sitting at the gate by 6:05 a.m. They were asking people to arrive 1 hour before flight time. Check with your airline to see what they say about arrival time and openings. Your hotel, too, should have a number you can call and ask about what would be open that early. People were getting coffee and muffins but I couldn't tell you what was open.

My husband flies out of BWI, USAir ONLY (because he is a chairman on USAirways) a few times a month. He say's you should have plenty of time, especially that early. I recemmend calling to check what time the USAir counter opens at BWI. Have a great trip!
