We are looking to fly Jet Blue out of DCA for our November Disney trip. We've always flown SW or AirTran out of BWI so I have no idea what to expect but fares are at least 200 dollars cheaper to go this route. Isn't Jet Blue known for flight delays?

No, not in my experience. National is a nice airport, small and easy to navigate. Depends where you are coming from but I wouldn't hesitate

Thanks! Just a fear of the unknown I suppose. ANy suggestions on a good park/fly hotel? I've heard that parking at the econo lot can be tough to find.

We flew out of there in May with Jetblue, our preferred airport is Dulles as it's 45-60 minutes closer for us. We paid to park in the daily lot vs economy because we had a very early flight and didn't know how long it would be to get from the lot to the airport. Our flight was on time but the waiting area it's in got very crowded, very fast because there are a lot of gates crammed into a small space. Security was also a little weird because it was actually pretty small, we had almost no wait but I can see how if you had bad timing you might have a longer wait.

No suggestion for park and fly hotels, they all seemed too expensive to me so we just left at 3:30 am for a 7 something flight. We're paying a bit more to fly out of dulles in September to avoid all that. :rotfl: But in general it wasn't a bad experience.

Haven't flown from DCA, so i cant speak to the airport or delays there.
But we just got back a couple of weeks ago from a mission trip to the Dominican republic.
We flew SW from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale, then took JetBlue from there to the DR.
All thirteen of us LOVED, LOVED, LOVED JetBlue!!!!
We had no problems or delays on either the trip out or back.
The difference in leg room, comfort, and amenities was amazing!!
If they were in Detroit, I'd never fly anyone else again!

We did it last November out of DCA. We were about 90 minutes late leaving due to a mechanical problem. we could see them working on the wing but we eventually took a different plane. We saved about $360 on tickets by taking Jet Blue from DCA vs Southwest from BWI for the same trip.

The only beef on the return trip is that the boarding in Orlando was chaos. Ignore the call for rows and just get on if you want to make sure you get overhead space. Everyone else did and they did not check BPs for that detail.

Love Jet Blue, we fly them out of BOS + PVD.

Most of the delays you hear about for Jet Blue are for flights originating or connecting thru New York City; mostly JFK.

Thanks for the insight - traveling with a 4 and 7 year old, I worry about delays but I suppose that can happen with any airline at any airport! The difference between flying SW out of BWI or JB out of DCA is around $200 so it seems worth it plus the seats do look a little comfier!:flower3:

Yes, the seats are larger on JB, Airbus vs. Boeing, plus you get the free Directv. I think JB allows people with kids to board first.
