anyone fly from vancouver to orlando?

is it cheaper to fly from seattle? what airline did you use? how much did you pay? stopovers??????????

we went March 2005 during spring break, which overlapped with Easter...so it was peak season. we flew out of Seattle to Orlando. i booked immediately on Boxing Day 2004, when i noticed flights on Alaska Air went down from $314 USD per ticket round trip to $259 USD per ticket. We were going to go to DL but changed our entire trip to WDW as a result. There are no stopovers...just a ~5 hour flight into Orlando.

I was on the Alaska Air's Internet site almost daily from Oct-Dec tracking their flight costs. I don't think I ever saw it go lower than $259.

We rented a car down to SeaTAC and we returned it there so we didn't have to park our car and be charged a daily rate. At the end of the trip, we rented a car at SeaTAC and drove back home.

P.S. Yes, it's cheaper to fly from SeaTAC to MCO. I calculated at that time that if we were to fly from YVR to MCO, it would've cost us ~$800+ CAD per ticket. For our family of 4, that really adds up. I wouldn't fly from SeaTAC if my DDs were younger. But they are 6 and 10, so it made the waiting at SeaTAC and the travelling in general a lot easier.

We flew SeaTac to Orlando in January 2005.

Our return flights were $400.00 USD (for 2 adults total)
We used QuickShuttle from Vancouver to Seatac
and we stayed one night at a hotel at Seatac.
Total cost was approx $600.00 USD (total, not each)

To fly out of Vancouver, the cheapest we could get was $780.00 CAD each so a total of $1560.00.

Even allowing for the exchange rate, the hotel and the shuttle, it was cheaper to fly from Seattle.

We flew Southwest.

We flew from Seattle in 2004...for 3 of us, it was about $1300, versus the $2300 it was going to be from Vancouver. For a savings of $1000, it was worth the 2 hour drive down the road. The hotel we stayed at overnight in Seattle was only about $100 and included parking for our vehicle for the week.

We flew on Alaska, and the flight we were considering from Vancouver would have stopped down in Seattle anyway, to connect with the flight we ended up taking. $1000 saved meant more money for fun in Florida!

We're considering going again this spring, and I see that the difference is still substantial!

Here's another general vote for flying from Seattle instead of Vancouver. I've done it many times to various places in the US. Orlando, Las Vegas, etc. It will almost always beat the cost of a Vancouver ticket, but you have to remember the expense of getting yourself to Seattle, parking a car, etc. The price difference may not be as big as it first seems, but in my experience it's usually still cheaper even considering that. There's many airlines to consider depending on whether you want direct or can deal with a stop somewhere. Alaska is the only one I've heard of with a non-stop Seattle - Orlando flight, but I'm not a travel agent so there could be something else out there similar.

With all that said, my last trip to Orlando was from Vancouver, but it was using Aeroplan points. What a nightmare that was to arrange, but that's another story.

we are now converts to westjet. Found the prices to be really good (watch for seat sale) and the flight times suitable to small kids!! You could fly Vancouver-Calgary and then the direct flight to Orlando. We fly from Kelowna but I'm sure it would be similar from Vancouver. We have also done the drive to Seattle then fly and the fly Kelowna-Seattle-orlando and MUCH prefer the westjet route. The direct Calgary-Orlando is so nice!!
(the parking in Seattle can be quite costly)

We've gone to WDW 5 different times now and have always found the fares out of seattle to be better, even if you have to stay overnight one way near the airport to take an early flight.

We usually go just at the end of American Thanksgiving into early December because you get the best low season specials on hotels and airfares (cheap deals because Americans like to fly home for their holiday), and it is a great time to experience Disney in all its Christmas splendour when the crowds are the smallest.

This year we're going for Spring Break though. So far I've noticed the airfares not nearly as good as I usually pay in Nov/Dec. I got a good deal one way from Orlando--Seattle with Southwest for $114 USD on March 20. But I want to leave from Seattle around March 9/10.

Has anyone found a deal this good one way Seattle--Orlando for this date?

Is it worth waiting to see if I can find an airfare this good to get down there?

We booked our flights last week from Seattle, direct on Alaska for March 4-14, and it was $1300 CDN for 3 of us. About the same as we paid 2 years ago, actually. The flight from Vancouver would have been $2500, and it was just going down to Seattle to connect to the flight we actually ended up choosing.

The price difference is amazing...even when you factor in the cost of hotel in Seattle (if needed) and parking, it's still worthwhile.

I haven't seen much cheaper than we got for March, but we also want non-stop.

Now car rentals are another story...the rates seem to have gone waaaay up since our last trip!
