anyone flew from Glasgow with MY Travel

I'm flying out on the 16th of August (Thur) at 09.00am!

we flew on a thursday last year and year before everything was fine, seat back tvs in economy toilets downstairs. this year it is a saturday hence me panicing.

phone them though it might be worth upgrading to Premair if you can afford it that is . when I went into the website the premair was going for alot cheaper than what we paid. let me know how you get on.

think also the thursday flight is now 10 am ours was 11.30 now its 11 which again doesn't bother me. think when you book well in advance they don't really know the exact dep times.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I am travelling on My Travel flight MYT045 on Thursday 24th May (only 3 days!) and I was pretty disappointed with the aircraft.

I actually booked with Thomsonfly (who have seat back TVs and an excellent entertainment program on all their long haul flights and 33" seat pitch) but found I was on a My Travel flight. My Travel said that they couldn't tell me what aircraft they were using until 7 days before the flight (don't know if this was true or not). My Travel do have seat back TVs and good seat pitch on their Airbus fleet so I did hope.

HOWEVER

They are using a 767-300 on this flight which has NO seat back TVs. I know Ali isn't bothered about these but I appreciate that if you're a nervous flyer they do take your mind off it. I woould be prepared to pay a bit extra for seat back TVs. But the worst thing is that the seat pitch is only 29" in economy. This was a big letdown. I could not last for 9 hours in a seat of 29" without being in agony for most of the time (sciatica). I have, therefore, had to upgrade to extra legroom seats at an extra cost of £70 return. The seat configuration in economy is 2-4-2. Premier Gold it is 2-2-2 with a seat pitch of 33" (I think?).

Ali - would it not be cheaper to get seats with with extra legroom rather than pay for Premier Gold (depending what you paid for Premier Gold that is) or to use the non-emergency bulkhead seats? Or is there some facilities in Premier Gold that you want to pay extra for?

is their premair on your flight do you know ?

our son broke his neck couple of years ago so we need the Premair for the extra room to maneouvre him in and out the seats when boarding etc. we flew out on a thursday last july premair but it was seatback tvs toilets downstairs in economyand Helen flew out on the earlier flight 10.00 one we were on the 12.45 one and she also said she had seat back tvs and premair.
we booked our 2005 trip with Thomson and never again they never passed on our sons details for the non emergency seats and the whole thing was a nightmare. apparently they dont fly out of Glasgow ever, never told us that when booking. the MY Travel cabin crew were so nice and sorted it all for the way home , so can't fault them at all. again that flight had seat back tvs and toilets downstairs
think the only thing you can do Caitlin is phone them but if you have booked premair then you should be ok.

Can someone give me the number I would need to call to ask about this? I am really worried now, I have never flown MyTravel before (usually BA or Virgin) and I was advised by my TA that they would have seat back TV's. Could I not just ask my TA? I mean 9 hrs is a really long time with no entertainment on board. I wouldn't mind so much if I had got a cheap deal on the flights but I paid full whack for these:sad2:

We flew out with My Travel last Oct from Manchester, booked premium both ways and the flight over was great, however on the flight back although we were still in Premium gold there were no seat back tv's. After asking about this we were told that it was a different type of aircraft on the return leg and they didnt have seat back tv's. Im sorry, I dont have a clue what the aircrafts were, but they were My Travel planes.

Hi Sue
just re-read the brochure and it says if its a 767 you still get Premair but not seat back tv's it will be hand held ones.

did you get hand held ones?

for me its the seating which is the biggest issue for us. was the seating ok Sue, as in similar to going out ?

Hi Ali

No we didnt have any hand held TV's just the normal ones up in the ceiling, and to make matters worse one of them was broken, however like you it's the seating that I go for more and yes it was very similar to the one going out, same type of seats, same amount of room, however Im sure going over the seat configeration was 2.3.2 in Premier and coming back was 2.2.2.In fact Im sure going over when we boarded the plane we took a turn to the left to get to premium and economy was to the right, and coming back everybody boarded at the front entrance and Premier was the first lot of seats and you continued down to economy, meaning everyone walked in and past the premium section. Hope that makes sense. It was still a great flight coming home, just no seatback TV's.:goodvibes

The number I used for My Travel was 0161 498 4498.

Like you I am really annoyed at the way some airlines advertise the facilities they provide in their 'Premium' service and then seem to be able to get away with a disclaimer that it depends on which aircraft they use on that journey (or they put you with a competitor Airline). They should then give refunds for the services that are not provided. I presume that the only way you can guarantee these facilities is to use a company that has these facilities in ALL of their fleet of aircraft. Unfortunately that is not always possible depending on the date of travel and departure airport you require.

They should always tell you what exactly you are getting for your money.

Ali - Yes there is Premier seating on our flight, just no seat back TVs

just all been clairfied

def. no seat back tv's. for premair you get hand held ones and the premair seating.
seating is our main worry but now more worried as they usualy allocated us the front row in premair becuase of DS disablity doubt they will now as if its all the one these seats will now effectively become bulk head seats not non emergency ones.

oh well booked now and all booked for next year with them so just have to go with the flow.

re-read the brochure last night and it does say all of the above . last year we got the airbus but this plane came up from Manchester why is it glasgow always gets less superior.
