Anyone feel "left out" when...

anyone feel left out when you hear about childhood friends having momentous events (weddings, births, etc.) and you weren't included and/or find out after-the-fact? Some of my good friends from childhood through high school have recently gotten married. We're in touch, though not close like we were then. I felt left out seeing wedding pics on Facebook and seeing our old group of friends, and I wasn't invited. Sigh. Guess I'm having a moment of glum, and I have that "picked last" feeling.

No. I just feel happy for them. I have better things to do on my weekends than sit around at the wedding of someone I was close to 10-15 years ago.

That kind of stuff never bothered me but when it happens to my daughter I hurt so bad

I want to be friends with people who want to be friends with me. I want to call people who call me. I want to go out with people who make me laugh, and laugh at my jokes. I want to be with people who build me up and make me feel special.

Are these people making you feel all of the above? If not, it is time to step away for awhile, or you need to talk to them, in person (or on the phone.)

Be bold. If you miss having them in your life SAY SO! If they are close by invite THEM out. Make firm plans. If they hem and haw and say they'll get back to you, wait, and see if they do. If they don't, give the friendship a pause. No need to dump them, but stop going to their facebook page.

If they live far away CALL them! Say hi! I miss you! Ask about them, the wedding, the baby. SAY you want to hear back from them. Again, wait, and then re-evaluate.

Sometimes friendships need a pause. Sometimes people just change and drift apart.

Not at all. The people I wanted to stay in touch with, I did. When I hear about those things, I'm glad for them, but have zero interest in being involved.
