Anyone fancy meeting up beginning March 2006?

Looks like there are quite a few of us going to DLP around about the beginning of March. I will be staying at the Cheyenne from 9th - 12th and Magamago and I have already talked about getting together since they are there around the same time.

Would anyone else be interested in meeting and if so does anyone have any suggestions?

I am new here so maybe the moderators could give us some pointers as to how this might be organised, I assume it has been done before? :rainbow:

Annette great to see you starting this :)

Hopefully yourself and Magamago will kick this off.

Although we have never managed to meet up with others some thoughts would be to meet up at a specific ride, what about lunch in one of the restaurant? If children are also in someone's group then perhaps a counter service would be better? If it is adults only then maybe meet up for a drink in the Village or Hotel?

I'd suggest that if you are sharing very personal details, addresses, mobile no. etc then it is probably best to keep those to PM's :)

Have fun :cheer2:

Here I am!
I'll take the advice given by Cyrano.
So, we will be the first people meeting up at the DLRP? I thought it was usual, as I've seen the board about DIS meetings.
Oh, doesn't matter, we will start a tradition and we'll be the pioneers. :sail: :cool2:

We met up with Renate and her husband in the summer. We both knew what each other looked like because we had posted photos in trip reports.

We arranged to meet outside City Hall in Disneyland Park at a certain time and spent a very pleasant hour wandering around and chatting. :chat:

I second Reid's advice about exchanging personal details like addresses, phone numbers etc by PM only and don't forget that we would love to hear all about it afterwards! :)

Thanks for the advice Cyrano and Elaine, I am an operator in a chat room so I am very 'Internet-wise' :teeth:

Magamago, I guess we need to wait and see who else is joining us, then figure out the best meeting point? I understand you have a young child yourself so a lunch venue might be best, or I like Elaine's idea where they met outside central hall and just walked about, we might be governed by the weather though :umbrella:

Let me know your thoughts :)

We met up with Dee and her family this past Christmas - we actually saw them first in the hotel we were all staying in in Ashford, then we met in the Sequoia Lodge bar, and Salon Mickey, and Plaza Gardens!!!

:)

Moderators - any chance of posting a link to this thread on the page stating when everyone is going to DLP? Maybe next to our date announcements or something? :worship:

I would hate anyone to miss the chance of meeting others because they didn't notice this thread :worried:

Many thanks!

Hi Annette, I'm a sort of internet-wise me too, as I've been on the net for 10 years already, starting chatting, and ending getting married to a man met thanks to my chat-friends. :thumbsup2 No, we didn't date in chat! :teeth:
About the meeting, lunch would be ok, or at a ride or at the central hall. Anything but breakfast, because it's hard getting my son out of the bed in the morning (but I believe that he'll make an exception while at DLP), so we may be late!

Hi Teresa, sounds like we'll have plenty to chat about :goodvibes

As you will see, I have persuaded the mods to add a link to the 'when is everyone going' thread, so hopefully we'll get some others interested. Once we know who might be joining us then we can work on a day/time/place. If not then a week or so before hand we'll make our own arangements to suit us - I notice you've been to DLP before so you might have a better idea of a suitable meeting place. We'll be happy to go along with whatever

We're there from the 11th to the 16th, it would be nice to meet up and say Hello :wave2: , but I'll have to get back to you on it - being the highly organised person that I am I have no idea what days we have prebooked lunches/breakfasts/SeaLife/Buffalo Bill etc. - not entirely my fault when I was planning I knew exactly what we'd be doing and when - then when the phonecalls from the travel agent started coming saying fully booked that day, but they can do another day - I completely lost track :confused3
We're arriving by Eurostar so about 1.30ish on Saturday 11th, on Sunday we hopefully have a GMF breakfast booked and lunch at the Lucky Nugget.
I'm hoping that an itinerary will be enclosed when our tickets arrive - not long now

Thanks for posting Jill, hope would be wonderful to pull this meeting off! I'm supposed to be new here but I feel like I've been here forever!! :lmao:

Perhaps Sunday would be a possibility, what's the Lucky Nugget? We will be leaving on the Sunday ourselves but not until later in the afternoon. When do you leave on the Sunday Magamago? If Magamago leaves earlier in the day we may have to consider Saturday evening...? :jumping1:

Actually, we are leaving Sunday evening 12th, but we have to see what we can do, we should leave the room by midday, if I don't make a mistake.
The Lucky Nugget is a western saloon, you can see a description here (may I?)
http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/luckynugget.html There are menu, reviews, descriptions. To tell the truth, I'd rather prefer avoid table service restaurants, with my 3 years old would be a pain, he will be running in the waiters' legs all the time! Well, it's difficult keep him seated anywhere... gosh, I realise that it sounds like my son is terrible! :yay:
BTW, hi Jill! :wave2:

Sounds just like any 3 year old DS :goodvibes . If I may what about Pizza Planet; if it is open, since it has play area for children :)

Hi there,
I'm sure the waiters are quite used to it and let's face it Disney's all about the kids having fun :rolleyes1 , we're taking my 3 year old niece :yay: for the first time - not sure what she's going to make of it all.
I'll happily go with the flow we could always meet up later for coffee or something.

In a good way...or a bad way?!!!! :teeth:
A good way of course - part of the furniture so to speak

Regarding the Golden Nugget I didn't realise it was table service, we had planned to avoid those ourselves apart from 2 exceptions - Rainforest Cafe and Annette's Diner (no need to explain that second one I hope :teeth: ), Pizza Planet sounds like a good suggestion - though meeting for coffee somewhere sounds just as good to me! :coffee:

Annette, Lucky Nugget is a help-yourself-buffet. You will be seated by a CM and then will have one who will look after you as far as serving drinks/removing dirty plates is concerned but you go and help yourself to the buffet as and when it suits you. There are lots of children there so like Jill said, the CM's will be used to it! :goodvibes

I don't have young children so I am not worried about that side of things, I was more put off by the price being 'over 20 euros' (I assume that's per head), like many of the other table service restaurants. Mind you, if it's a 'stuff yourself silly' then I could be persuaded ;)
