We are driving down for FL from upstate NY and want to avoid Washington, DC area of I95 and 295 because we have gotten stuck around that area for hours and hours and I don't want to repeat that if possible.

Does anyone know if Rt. 304 is a good alternative way to go? Is that just as congested?

Thanks!

Do you mean Rt 301??...If so we use it quite frequently to by pass the washington traffic.....works out great

We usually pick it up right around delaware...I think??

If it is US 301 you mean, then I would recommend it to avoid the Washington International Speedway :) ... oops the Washington Beltway. You have more traffic lights, but it is not as stressful as the interstates around D.C.

Yes, Rt. 301 - my husband took the map to work today because he wanted to email someone he knows who lives down there. Anyway, thanks. The memory of getting home at 1 AM from Virginia Beach are still fresh in my mind even though it was two years ago. We usually go on Rt. 13, but my husband wanted to try "another way".....which took forever! Going 65 mph and then coming to a dead stop got to me after a while, so we got off onto Rt. 1 which was just as bad.....then it began to rain....too bad we didn't have a map with us to find this Rt. 301.
So it really cuts out the traffic right?
Thanks.::MinnieMo
