We used their stamp machine years ago. Since we downsized in 2001 we decided not to have the cost, cancelled our service and asked Pitney Bowes to pick up the machine and postage scale we had/have. They never came. Numerous time we called and asked them to pick up the machines, each time they said they'd be there and then wouldn't show up. Ok, fast forward to now and I'm cleaning out our back room and here sits the machines. Don't know what to do with them. Called Pitney Bowes and they act like I'm an idiot. So should I pitch the machines? Donate them? I just don't think Pitney Bowes cares.

My guess is that the machines are obsolete and they don't want them back because they are not going to be able to give them to anyone else. When my dad switched from DSL to fiber, Verizon didn't want the DSL modem back - it was 2 years old and basically obsolete for their purposes.

What did they say when you called?

I doubt there is any value in donating them - you can usually get the machines at little to no cost. They make their money on the monthly fees and supplies.

We have one in our office from years ago that they never picked up either. And this was a newer one. We had gotten a new machine and they gave us a loaner until ours was in (same model) then they never picked up the old one and we called them a few times too. I would just toss it.

We got a new Pitney Bowes machine at our office and we were told by the rep from PB that the machines are actually considered to be a currency making device and that we could not own the mahcine, only lease it.

That's been my experience too. I worked for a firm that closed. The postage machine sat in the vacant space for over a year while Pitney told me they had no record of the account. Finally they came out and the machine had $1200 in postage on it. They gave me a receipt, telling me they would make the refund check out to the firm, but send it to my house. It's been more than a year since they picked it up and still no refund. :rolleyes1
