Anyone familiar with PayPal?

My Dsis booked a flight to Orlando online using PayPal and her MC that was linked to her PayPal account (she normally just uses money in her account). It has been 8 days and the transaction is still "pending". Does anyone know how long does it normally take for a PayPal transaction to go through using a credit card? She's getting nervous, if its still 'pending' does that mean her flight isn't a done deal? She booked through AirTran and received a "receipt confirmation" BUT is unable to look up her itinerary. Help! :scared:
 
I am not sure with flights but whenever I have used the CC attached to my paypal account it was instant. If I have done an echeck it is about 10 days. can she contact paypal and see what they say? I have a phone number (long distance) if you want it.
 
She thinks maybe there is a waiting period, but it shouldn't be taking this long. I think she sent them an email yesterday, so I guess she can wait to see what they say.....its just odd that if there was a problem, why Paypal wouldn't indicate that.....I believe she sent an email to AirTran too....and if there was a problem on their end, same thing, why not notify her? :furious:

Existing funds and credit card should go through instantly. Paypal has a debit card that has a mastercard logo - but it isn't a mastercard - if she's using that card that could be the issue. It sounds like her account is pulling the money out of a bank account since she doesn't have enough existing funds. Bank transfers can take 7-10 days to clear - otherwise known as e-cheques. Hope that helps.
 

I think Paypal might be taking the funds out of her bank account. On my PP account, the payment method automatically defaults to my bank account even though I have a credit card linked to it. If I want to pay by credit card, I have to manually choose that method of payment. Like everyone else, my credit card transactions have been instant.
 
Thanks for the info. When she booked on the AirTran website, the PayPal symbol came up and she clicked on that, then it asked if she wanted to use her 'account' or a credit card, so she picked "credit card" and it asked for her credit card number.

She just got a response from both PayPal and AirTran today. PayPal said AirTran has not accepted payment yet and AirTran said her payment was 'declined' but that they are holding her reservation till August 28 and she can call to make payment.

I'm relieved BUT upset that neither company bothered to notify her that there was an issue.....thankfully AirTran is 'holding' her reservation, but once again, had she not emailed them, how would she have known they were only holding it till August 28? Very frustrating!!! :mad:

Just an update......well, AirTran actually CALLED my Dsis today and asked her if she still wanted the flight. The reason why her credit card was declined? It was a "Canadian MC". That's odd, we buy online all the time with a Canadian MC. Anyhoo, they were able to take the card over the phone, just not online.....go figure! Now she has to cancel PayPal.
