American here with a question. DS and I got a brochure last year for Parc Safari and thought it sounded like a good place for Mother/Son weekend. Now that I have resolved the.... "can I cross the border without a Passport?" question and the "what kind of foods can I carry over the border?" question, I just want to be sure that this place is worth the trip. The website looks interesting. And we would probably only go to the park for one day and spend the other day or two just sightseeing in the area.

We do plan on camping in the area.... the Parc Safari brochure lists lots of area campgrounds at very reasonable price. Anyone familiar with any of the campgrounds around that area?

THanks SOOO much in advance for any/all help you can give!............P

I have been 3 or 4 times and every time is different!!!!! Not sure how old your DS is but I brought kids of all ages, from 4 to 14...they all loved it. It's definitely not a FULL day event but I guess it depends on how slowly you drive around in the "safari" area. Bring your own carrots, celery and apples, the animals prefer that stuff to the boxed cardboard food they sell there. After you drive around, there are a lot more animals in the zoo area (in cages) and also some carnival rides and games. There is also an elephant ride which is pretty cool!

Not familiar with the camping because we drive there and back in the same day.

Don't forget your camera and video camera if you have one. Driving around and feeding the animals is priceless, especially when they stick their whole head in your car! Make sure you don't have anything valuable hanging around the seats or windows because they grab EVERYTHING!!!!! We lost our lunch to a antilope who stuck it's whole head in the car and grabbed our grocery bag of food that was sitting by our feet :furious: ...but it was pretty funny!

Have fun!

Hello, same as the previous poster for the camping, I live in Montreal ( about an hour away ) and as a result always drive there and back.

But it IS a fun parc to visit, with the drive-through parc, followed by the actual theme park which has a walk through zoo area, pool and rides.

Hey, it's no Disney, but still a nice time :)

We went to Parc Safari about 6 years ago, when our kids were 5 & 7. That year we chose just to do day trips to local attractions for our vacation, and it was the best day! For us, it was a full day of activity starting with the drive through safari, then the rides, then the water play, back to the rides again. We loved it!

What we loved about the rides was that they were all miniature or scaled down versions of the big rides, so they were perfect for our kids at that age. We have relatives visiting this summer and may take them there, but it is about 2 hours away from us so I don't know. I have also always wanted to go to Grandby Zoo, so a friend and I are planning to take the kids there for a day this summer.

Parc safari is pretty fun. I haven't been in awhile but they upgraded it since I last went and it does look nicer. You should have a passport and you can't bring food such as fruits and veggies or meat across. You can bring non perishables.

We went to Parc Safari many years ago, long before they expanded and added the water park. We thought that it was a nice park & zoo. Four years ago I had planned to stop there on the way up to Montréal, but when we arrived there was a long line of cars at the entrance. So we decided that we would go there on another trip when we have more time.

You will not need a passport to cross into Canada and to re-enter the US. The passport is only required for re-entry into the US if you arrive by plane or by ship. If you are driving, you will need a government-issued photo ID such as a state driver's license and proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate. The passport requirement will start June 1, 2009 for ALL methods of travel into the US. I am getting ready to apply for a passport card. It can be used instead of a passport for travel between Canada & US. It is less expensive than the passport. It resembles a driver's license.

Have a nice trip in Canada!
